17. December 2020The parcel service provider pakadoo GmbH supports schools in digitalization instead of sending Christmas cards. In this effort, pakadoo collaborates with the non-profit educational initiative Teach First Germany, which in turn supports disadvantaged children and young people.
(Böblingen) This year, pakadoo GmbH is supporting the non-profit educational initiative Teach First Germany as a Christmas campaign, which promotes students at schools in challenging areas through the deployment of so-called Teach Fellows to provide them with better educational opportunities. Pakadoo replaces the obligatory Christmas card with sustainable eCards, and the saved budget benefits the digital education of disadvantaged children and young people.
Digitalization is fundamental
A project in this area was a natural fit for the management of pakadoo, as digitalization is the foundation of the business model: thanks to digital processes, both the legally secure receipt of private employee packages and the efficient handling of business packages in companies are made possible. A whole new business area is participation in city logistics projects. Here, too, digital concepts bundle package deliveries and optimize traffic flow and thus the quality of life in cities. “Especially in this special year, it became very clear that there are significant deficits in digitalization in the education sector. Therefore, it was a natural choice for us to support an organization that helps students learn to engage actively and responsibly with digital media,” explains Michael Strohäcker, founder and managing director of pakadoo GmbH. Therefore, pakadoo will specifically support the project Digital Education – Teach First. University graduates, referred to as “Digi-Fellows,” prepare students for the (digital) demands of the future job market and empower them for successful societal participation.
Greatest need among children and young people
Michael Strohäcker further explains: “This project specifically addresses where the need is greatest: among children and young people whose educational success cannot be guaranteed by their parents’ income or support. However, they will be urgently needed in our increasingly digital working world in the future. Therefore, we are pleased to contribute to better future opportunities for these students.”On behalf of Teach First Germany, Julia Hulka, who supports students in their daily school life as a Teach Fellow at the Theodor-Heuss-Werkrealschule in Böblingen, received the donation check from pakadoo managing director Michael Strohäcker. About pakadoo
Receiving packages where you are: Behind the “work-life-logistics” of pakadoo (www.pakadoo.de) is the idea of enabling employees to receive and return private packages directly at the office, regardless of the parcel service provider. To do this, companies set up a so-called “pakadoo point”; supported by clever logistics software, the packages are stored there and distributed to employees. This approach is gradually being expanded to other areas and additional services. Thus, pakadoo’s product portfolio now also includes parcel lockers that can be used as an alternative to the staffed pakadoo points in companies and public locations. The openly accessible parcel lockers can be used by all registered pakadoo users for receiving and returning packages. And with pakadoo Business, a digital solution for the simple, secure, and transparent handling of business packages is available.
About Teach First
Teach First Germany (TFD) demonstrates that young people in socially disadvantaged areas can succeed. For this purpose, university graduates from various fields serve as fellows at schools in challenging areas across the country. As trusted individuals and additional support in teaching and after-school programs, they assist students particularly where they often struggle: at transitions in the education system. The focus is on future and career orientation as well as preparation for intermediate and central final exams.Fellows are selected through a multi-stage process, qualified for the two-year school deployment, and are accompanied and trained during this time. The commitment to Teach First Germany shapes a generation of responsible leaders who subsequently advocate for better educational opportunities through the alumni network. Currently, 230 fellows are deployed in 180 schools.Photo: © pakadoo / Image caption: from left to right: Lars Becker and Julia Julka from Teach First receive the symbolic check from pakadoo managing director Michael Strohäcker.www.pakadoo.de www.teachfirst.de
