18. December 2020The Austrian logistics service provider cargo-partner GmbH has collaborated with a number of charitable organizations and social projects in the year coming to an end to help those most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The assistance reached around the globe.
(Fischamend) The year 2020 has brought unprecedented challenges for the global economy: from the ongoing pandemic to widespread lockdowns, travel restrictions, and overwhelmed healthcare systems. In many cases, these factors have exacerbated the living conditions of people who were already living in precarious situations. As part of its comprehensive sustainability strategy, cargo-partner has also built on long-standing partnerships with charitable organizations worldwide this year to organize targeted assistance for those affected.
Corona emergency aid in India with Jugend Eine Welt
India, with a population density of 1.4 billion inhabitants, is one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. To keep the number of new infections as low as possible and to secure the survival of thousands of families, the non-profit organization Jugend Eine Welt, in collaboration with its long-term project partner, the Don Bosco Network India, has initiated a series of aid measures. cargo-partner has been working with Jugend Eine Welt for more than ten years. This year, the logistics provider decided to forgo traditional Christmas gifts for customers and instead use the funds to support this important initiative in India. The project has already reached over two million people with food packages, hygiene kits, and counseling sessions.
Gift boxes for nursing homes in Slovakia
At Christmas 2020, cargo-partner aims to bring joy to the elderly in Slovakia and is participating in the project “How much love fits in a shoebox.” For the third consecutive year, volunteers from the charity Koľko lásky organized a nationwide collection of Christmas gifts for seniors in nursing homes. In 2019, the organization collected over 22,000 shoeboxes filled with gifts. To support the project this year, cargo-partner is providing free space at the iLogistics Center Bratislava. Additionally, employees on-site have assembled and donated numerous gift boxes themselves. By mid-December 2020, cargo-partner had already organized the palletization and storage of more than 3,050 boxes, which are currently being distributed to nursing homes and elderly individuals living alone.
Transport of school supplies to Kosovo
Kosovo is facing high unemployment and poverty, and the pandemic is exacerbating the existing humanitarian needs. cargo-partner supported the H. Stepic CEE Charity in transporting donations for over 270 school children aged six to fourteen from Austria to Prizren. The delivery included essential school materials, school bags, and tablets, enabling children to participate in classes even during COVID-19 and homeschooling. The donation was handed over during a press conference where UNICEF announced its future support for the project and participation in further similar initiatives.
Sustainable agriculture in Rwanda with Caritas
Caritas Slovenia, in collaboration with Caritas Rwanda, organized the development project “More efficient use of resources for sustainable survival in the Karongi District of Rwanda” from 2018 to 2020. The initiative was co-financed by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and cargo-partner in Slovenia also supported the good cause. The project targets 600 needy families who primarily rely on agriculture. The aim of the initiative is to provide people living in the Karongi District with the necessary knowledge and equipment for sustainable farming methods and other economic activities for long-term income generation. cargo-partner in Slovenia supported the transport of five machines for producing sustainable compressed earth bricks from Slovenia to the Rwandan towns of Mutun and Gashari.
Minibus for children of the Klokánek project with A-B Help
The Czech association A-B Help s.r.o. brings together non-profit organizations and socially responsible companies to purchase minibuses that enable children, seniors, and people with disabilities to get to school or the hospital or go on trips. To date, 27 minibuses have been purchased for a good cause. cargo-partner in the Czech Republic has been working with A-B Help since 2019. This year, the company supported the purchase of a minibus for the Klokánek project. Klokánek is an initiative of the Fond Ohrožených dětí (Fund for endangered children). The aim of the charity is to provide children with temporary family care instead of institutional care until they can return to their families or find permanent placement with an adoptive or foster family.
Toy donation for children in Nitra, Slovakia
On International Children’s Day in June, cargo-partner organized a toy donation to a daycare for Roma and Sinti children in the Orechov Dvor settlement in Nitra, Slovakia. The previous year, the logistics provider had held a “Family Day” at its headquarters near Vienna Airport for employees and their families. At the toy exchange stand, visitors had the opportunity to donate toys for a good cause. Alternatively, children could exchange their less-used toys for others available at the stand. The project was a success, and cargo-partner decided to donate the collected toys to the daycare and kindergarten for Roma and Sinti children in Nitra. The logistics company has been supporting the daycare in collaboration with Jugend Eine Welt since 2014.
Staple foods for families in Bosnia and Herzegovina
In the summer of 2020, cargo-partner donated and transported 70 humanitarian aid packages containing food, hygiene items, and essential goods in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The boxes marked with the words “We believe in your smile” were sent to the organizations “Obraduj nekoga”, “Pomozi.ba”, and “Srce za Djecu”. Obraduj nekoga was founded in 2017 and supports socially vulnerable families and mothers. Pomozi.ba was established in 2012 and advocates for marginalized groups in the country: from orphans and single parents to the elderly and immigrants. Srce za Djecu was founded in 2003 and is dedicated to supporting children with cancer and their families.
