20. December 2020The logistics real estate developer Panattoni announces the full occupancy of its property in Essen Port. The user is the online provider Euziel International. After the successful renovation of the 43,220 sqm brownfield site, which has over 100 years of industrial history, completion is scheduled for early 2021. 120 new jobs are expected to be created.
(Hamburg/Essen) Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics real estate in Europe, has already achieved full occupancy of its speculatively developed property in Essen Port before completion. The future user is the online provider and retailer Euziel International GmbH based in Remscheid. Euziel will use the property for the storage and handling of furniture for offices and households, pet supplies, as well as other sports or outdoor products.
Trimodal Connection
Panattoni is realizing the new logistics center in a prime location in Essen Port, a central hub for goods handling in the Ruhr area with trimodal connections. As part of the project development, Panattoni is revitalizing the brownfield site with over 100 years of industrial history. The existing building was vacated, and ordnance clearance measures were necessary after the discovery of numerous World War bombs during construction.
On the 43,220 sqm site, 20,140 sqm of warehouse space, 1,415 sqm of office and social space, and 1,523 sqm of mezzanine space will be created. The building will have a height of 10 m and will achieve the DGNB Gold standard as part of a sustainable and resource-saving development.
“With the development and early full occupancy of the new logistics center by Euziel International, we celebrate a great success,” says Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni. “The new property is being built in an important logistics top region and has outstanding connections. The decision to revitalize here at the Essen location was absolutely the right one. Our Panattoni team was able to find the right solutions for this location with outstanding expertise in this highly complex task. The pre-letting before the completion of the property is the best proof of that.”
Regional Economic Development is Pleased
“We are very pleased about the development of the new logistics center by Panattoni and the settlement of Euziel International in Essen,” explains Andre Boschem, Managing Director of EWG – Essener Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft mbH. “It is particularly noteworthy that 120 new jobs in the commercial sector will be created in Essen Port – a good sign for the city of Essen as a business location.”
The EWG supported Panattoni in acquiring the area in Essen. The economic developers also provided advisory support to the company during the approval process.
Panattoni began construction in May 2020, with completion of the property scheduled for February 2021. The team from Realogis Düsseldorf, led by Bülent Alemdag, was involved in the mediation of the property and the tenant Euziel as part of a sole mandate from Panattoni.
