25. January 2021The Birsterminal AG and its Dutch partner Dubbelman Container Transporten BV welcomed the new and innovative inland container ship CAMARO VII for the first time at the port of Birsfelden last week.
(Birsfelden/Switzerland) Last Thursday, the MS CAMARO VII entered the port of Birsfelden/Switzerland for the first time. For freight shipping, the Auhafen in Muttenz follows, and then Rheinfelden/D (but already with size restrictions), and then it ends. Further towards Lake Constance, only passenger shipping is available.

In addition to a record-breaking 53 (!) reefer connections, the motor vessel CAMARO VII, with a length of 135 meters and a width of 11.40 meters, offers a capacity of 268 TEU on four tiers at a maximum of 3030 tons and complements the Tango Shipping Line operating between Basel/Birsfelden and Antwerp/Rotterdam.
Thanks to a modern ballast system and a maximum draft of only 3 meters, as well as state-of-the-art navigation technology, the CAMARO VII is optimally equipped to maintain the approved clearance height at the Middle Bridge in Basel even during high water levels, or to sustain the scheduled service longer during low water levels.

MS Camaro VII has arrived at its final destination in the port of Birsfelden, at the terminal of Birsterminal AG.
Port of Birsfelden as a Trimodal Interface
The port of Birsfelden forms the ideal trimodal interface of water-rail-road to deliver or receive containers without having to cross the city of Basel by road or rail. In addition, the port of Birsfelden, with its direct rail connection, is optimally connected to the operational areas of companies in the food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries located in Schweizerhalle/Getec, Salina Raurica, and Birsfelden, and has direct access to the Basel SBB shunting yard via the port railway station.
The new unit CAMARO VII represents a qualitative and capacity enhancement of our liner service.
