Software Developer LIS AG Puts New Data Center into Operation
4. February 2021VTM Develops Security Concept Against Fuel Theft
4. February 2021HARDER logistics GmbH & Co. KG from Neu-Ulm looks back on its best year since its founding in 2003. There has been a high demand for storage solutions. The opening of a new container storage facility with a capacity of 250 boxes is planned for summer 2021.
(Neu-Ulm) The relocation specialist Harder logistics was able to conclude the 2020 business year as the best in its company history. “We also expect a further increase in business development for 2021, considering the full order books in the corporate relocation sector,” summarizes Marcello Danieli, managing partner of Harder logistics.
This significantly positive balance was not foreseeable for a long time due to the volatile situation caused by the Corona pandemic. Broadly speaking, business fluctuated between two extremes, according to Danieli: “While domestic orders in Germany collapsed significantly, the global project volume developed above average.” The biggest driver was the establishment of vaccine lines and pharmaceutical facilities in the USA and Europe. With special permits, the system-relevant projects could be realized, explains Danieli.
Best Result in Company History
Harder logistics owes its ability to report the highest revenue and the best operating result in its 18-year company history to this circumstance. “We were able to increase both earnings and revenue by 10 percent,” reveals Danieli. In the area of storage, demand was so high that the company rented another machine storage hall with 7500 m² in 2020, which is now fully occupied.
For 2021, the managing partner expects that the boom in corporate relocations abroad will continue unabated. Although the relocation of companies and plants is at the core of Harder logistics’ business, Danieli views this development with concern: “Every company relocation abroad, fueled by subsidies or other incentives, means an irretrievable loss of know-how for the economic location Germany and destroys jobs.”
Investment in Fully Automated Container Hall
For the future, the specialist logistics provider is focusing on securing the future through a multi-million investment made in 2020 in a fully automated container storage hall at the Neu-Ulm location, the consistent implementation of the sustainability strategy, and further diversification of business areas. The opening of the container storage hall with a capacity of 250 boxes is planned for summer 2021. As a special feature, the storage provider can trigger the provision autonomously from outside via an internet portal.
Harder logistics will continue its commitment to sustainability in 2021. “In connection with the climate neutrality achieved in 2020, we have continuously invested in electric vehicles,” confirms Danieli.
Six Electric Forklift Trucks
This includes, among other things, six electric forklift trucks. Another important aspect of the continuous updating of the fleet is traffic safety. Therefore, the company has decided to only order trucks with video camera side mirrors in the future. The technology used significantly increases the field of vision on the road and improves the view of trailers or semi-trailers when maneuvering and turning.
Most recently, in January 2021, Harder logistics joined the Association for the Promotion of the Innovation Region Ulm – Spitze im Süden e.V. with over 90 members. Its social and cultural engagement was expressed last year through donations to four institutions. These went to the Ulm Museum, Lebenshilfe Neu-Ulm, a private initiative that supports African children in Ghana, and the Lebensschule Altheim.
