6. February 2021Night Star Express, like every company in Germany, Europe, and around the world, faced the challenges of the Corona pandemic. Through consistent action, the night express service provider managed to achieve an increase of 2.6% in the fiscal year 2020 with 5.75 million shipments.
Despite the economic downturn caused by Corona throughout Germany, the fiscal year for Night Star Express developed positively overall. Managing Director Matthias Hohmann explains the situation: “After the shipment numbers, especially from our customers in the automotive industry, dropped significantly in spring, we were able to record increases in shipments from this sector again in the third and fourth quarters. Additionally, we were able to acquire some new major customers during the pandemic.”
Optimistic for 2021
Particularly the health of our employees and the development and regular adjustment of hygiene measures were our top priority last year: “Our measures to protect our employees have been effective, and we have been able to maintain operations without major restrictions so far. Thanks to the great commitment of everyone and the consistent implementation of our guidelines, we were able to prevent the outbreak of the disease in our operations, warehouses, and transshipment facilities,” says Matthias Hohmann. No one can predict when the pandemic situation will sustainably ease. For 2021, Matthias Hohmann takes a cautiously optimistic outlook: “We are well positioned even in this challenging time and will continue to strengthen our position through the consistent implementation of our corporate strategy. I am confident that if everyone continues to be as considerate and thoughtful as before, we will emerge from the Corona crisis stronger.”
