17. February 2021The “CarLo Truck” by Soloplan Attracts Attention in South Africa
17. February 2021Rhenus Home Delivery, a specialist in end customer delivery, is testing a battery-electric vehicle. The Maxus EV80 from MAXOMOTIVE Germany will initially be tested for four weeks at the Düsseldorf location – with the option to extend the test or continue at another location.
(Düsseldorf) The vehicle features a box body and offers a range of up to 150 kilometers under normal load. The Düsseldorf branch is particularly suitable due to its central location, as the vehicle has to cover only a short distance to the end customer. During the four-week field trial with the Maxus EV80, approximately 720 kilograms of carbon dioxide are expected to be saved compared to a diesel truck. Similar tests with battery-electric trucks have already taken place in Berlin.
“Especially in the areas of climate protection, renewable energies, and urbanization, Rhenus Home Delivery is strongly committed and fulfills its social responsibility,” emphasizes Patrick Braune, Sustainability Manager at Rhenus Home Delivery.
Alternative drives are expected to play an even stronger role
Numerous vehicles with CNG drive are already part of the Rhenus Home Delivery fleet, which can be operated CO2-neutrally thanks to biomethane. In the future, alternative drives are expected to play an even stronger role. “Operational excellence and our employees are the cornerstones for our development as a company. Alternative and sustainable drives, as well as their positive effects on the environment, complement these cornerstones and form the key strategic direction in the coming years,” adds Sören Lauenstein, Sustainability Manager at Rhenus Home Delivery.
The Maxus brand is part of the SAIC Motors Group, the largest automobile manufacturer in China and a specialist in the field of electromobility. “Together with Rhenus Home Delivery, we want to demonstrate in this field trial that our E-Transporters are an excellent alternative to combustion vehicles, especially in cities and metropolitan areas, and thus represent an efficient fleet expansion,” emphasizes Ulrich Mehling, Managing Director at MAXOMOTIVE Germany.
