25. February 2021Just a few days ago, three fully electric FUSO eCanters joined the vehicle fleet of the Swiss Camion Transport AG. The three vehicles are deployed in the cities of Basel, Lucerne, and Geneva for city logistics. The key handover took place in a small setting in Rümlang (near Zurich). These are the first eCanters to be used in Switzerland.
(Schlieren / Stuttgart / Tokyo) Daimler Trucks’ first fully electric truck in small series conquers another European truck market. With the delivery of three FUSO eCanters to Camion Transport AG, a new chapter in ecological logistics begins in Switzerland. “Being the first company in Switzerland to operate this groundbreaking vehicle makes us a bit proud,” says Director Josef Jäger. The vehicles will be used in the city centers of Basel, Lucerne, and Geneva, handling the locally emission-free distribution of goods.
Urbanization is a global megatrend. At the same time, the demand for goods, especially in increasingly dense centers, is continuously growing. Not least due to the Corona pandemic, which has caused online shipping to explode worldwide. “These goods need to get to the people,” says Josef Jäger, Director of Camion Transport AG. “This should happen quickly, but also ecologically, cleanly, and quietly,” he explains, adding: “We have already had very good experiences with the FUSO EcoHybrid and are excited to get even closer to our vision of sustainable city logistics with the eCanter. By 2025, we aim to deliver completely emission-free to city centers.”

Agile Professional for Fine Distribution
The FUSO eCanter is the ideal vehicle for inner-city distribution on the last mile. As a 7.49 t vehicle with a range of over 100 km, a top speed of about 80 km/h, and a power output of 129 kW, it has everything needed for ecological and economical operation in urban centers. Its wheelbase of 3,400 mm also makes it extremely agile. Over 200 vehicles are now in daily customer use in the USA, Europe, and Japan.
The experiences that Camion Transport AG and other renowned companies gather with the powerful eCanter small series model flow directly back to FUSO, where the data is analyzed and incorporated into the development of the series vehicle. With a global fleet performance of over 3 million fully electric kilometers in customer use, the engineering team at FUSO can draw on an ever-growing wealth of experience. The goal: when the eCanter goes into large-scale production within the first half of the decade, it should be even more mature and tailored to all customer needs. Until then, further FUSO eCanters from the small series will be delivered successively.
