25. February 2021The former FineCom Finishing-eCommerce-Logistics GmbH, headquartered in Plattling, opens a fourth location near Passau. This family-run logistics provider for high-quality lifestyle and fashion products now operates a total of 95,000 m² of logistics space and employs 400 staff by the end of the year.
(Hamburg) The new location is situated 20 kilometers from Passau, close to the A3 motorway, exit Aicha vorm Wald. FineCom is moving into a logistics property of 18,000 m², featuring pallet and shelving storage, including areas for order picking, value-added services, smaller safety stock, and administration.
In Operation Since Mid-February
With the relocation of the first four customers, the Passau logistics center commenced operations in mid-February. This includes a new customer for electronic locking systems. Additional existing and new customers will follow in parallel with the staffing increase until the end of 2021. Currently, the sustainability-oriented company is retrofitting the ready-to-use halls with LED lighting. A photovoltaic system is planned for sustainable power generation.
The rented hall expands the logistics space by 20 percent to 95,000 m². With the fourth location and an additional 100 full- and part-time jobs, the company is addressing the increasing volume in shipping and returns logistics in eCommerce by the end of 2021. FineCom currently serves more than 100 manufacturers and retailers in the B2C and B2B sectors with fully digitized processes from ordering to shipping to comprehensive returns processing.
Suitable Property Found in Just a Few Weeks
“E-commerce trade is exploding. Logistics needs space. Despite the limited availability of logistics space, we found a suitable property near our headquarters in just a few weeks,” comments Franz S. Alt, who has been expanding the family business in the eCommerce sector as managing director since 2012.
The local management is taken over by Alexandra Alt. The 30-year-old studied International Management in Vienna and has been working alongside her brother in the family business since 2014. As General Manager, she already manages the Plattling location with 90 employees and 16,000 m² of space.
