25. February 2021The family-owned company Hellmann Worldwide Logistics from Osnabrück sets standards in the logistics industry with a nationwide company agreement aimed at improving care and work-life balance. Whether for parents, parents-in-law, partners, or dependent children – since mid-last year, employees at Hellmann can quickly and without significant bureaucratic effort apply for up to four days of special leave each year.
(Osnabrück) Hellmann Worldwide Logistics sets standards in the logistics industry with a nationwide company agreement aimed at improving care and work-life balance. This move responds to demographic changes and takes another step towards fulfilling its commitment as an inclusive and family-friendly employer.
In an era of an increasingly aging society, employees are increasingly faced with the challenge of balancing the care and support of dependent relatives with their own professional obligations. Moreover, there are situations where quick action is required, or the legally mandated leave provisions do not apply.
Pioneering Role in the Logistics Industry
Therefore, Hellmann creates additional special leave days beyond the legal provisions, which can be taken at short notice for doctor visits, appointments with the Medical Service, as well as for official matters or organizing home care for a dependent relative.
“With this agreement, we are taking on a pioneering role – in the logistics industry and beyond. As a family business, we want to make a real statement by allowing special leave days for the care of relatives. It is important to us to support our affected employees in balancing their dual responsibilities of care and work as effectively as possible,” explains Reiner Heiken, CEO of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
“The company agreement has been in effect since mid-last year, and the past months have shown that we are on the right track: Over 50 colleagues have already taken special leave days and were truly grateful for the time gained to care for their relatives,” adds Helmut Ledor, Chairman of the Works Council at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
