9. March 2021B-LOG Bulk Logistik GmbH is the new shareholder of Diedrich Meyer GmbH & Co. KG. The joint venture of L.I.T. AG and J. MÜLLER AG acquires the insolvent Bremen coffee transporter. B-LOG is thus expanding its logistics portfolio in the coffee segment. All jobs will be retained.
(Brake / Bremen) Effective March 2021, the joint venture B-LOG Bulk Logistik GmbH of the Braker L.I.T. Group and the port logistics company J. MÜLLER Weser GmbH & Co. KG has taken over the business operations of the insolvent freight forwarder Diedrich Meyer GmbH & Co. KG. Through this acquisition, the corporate cooperation not only saves a Bremen traditional company but also simultaneously expands its own service offerings. The bundling of resources in the port logistics of raw coffee with transport and contract logistics enables B-LOG to offer all relevant services from a single source in the future.
Important Player in the Bremen Market
“With the joint venture and the acquisition, we are playing the complete keyboard of coffee logistics and aim to become one of the most important players in the Bremen market,” says Ingo Schreiber, Managing Director of L.I.T. Cargo GmbH and board member of L.I.T. AG.
The freight forwarder Diedrich Meyer, founded in 1897, specializes in container transport and electric tipping chassis. In the area of local and long-distance transport, these were recently represented by container or bulk transport. In addition, the family-run business, now in its fifth generation, also offered storage and unloading of overseas containers or pallet goods in open storage in Bremen.
Service Spectrum Fits
“The service spectrum fits 100 percent with B-LOG and perfectly complements our portfolio. From now on, we cover all services of coffee logistics from a single source,” says Matthias Seidel, Managing Director of B-LOG Bulk Logistik GmbH.
Due to liquidity difficulties caused by declining sales and payment delays resulting from the Corona pandemic, the freight forwarder Diedrich Meyer filed for insolvency in December 2020. The current 22-member staff of Diedrich Meyer will be taken over.
