22. March 2021The Eisenbahngesellschaft Potsdam mbH (EGP) joins the ShortSeaShipping Inland Waterway Promotion Center (spc) association on April 1, 2021. EGP is thus the sixtieth member of the association. With this membership, EGP aims to strengthen its connection to water, which it already has through its involvement in the Elbe Port Wittenberge.
(Bonn/Hamburg/Potsdam) The Eisenbahngesellschaft Potsdam mbH (EGP) is a railway company operating in the freight transport sector and offers its customers intelligent and reliable solutions for rail freight transport. Founded in 2005, it generates an annual turnover of around € 40 million with approximately 150 employees. EGP, which is part of the ENON Group, is also involved in the Elbe Port Wittenberge.
“Rail alone is not enough for us. We combine rail with road and waterways to offer environmentally friendly services. With central transshipment terminals in Brandenburg, we are increasingly supporting the transfer of container transport from trucks to freight trains. For our customers, we create innovative transport concepts for their goods transport from production site to production site,” says Thomas Becken, Managing Director of EGP.
Connecting the Rail Network with Roads and Waterways
“We see ourselves as logisticians who, due to years of experience, not only offer rail-bound solutions but also rely on integrated concepts that connect the rail network with roads and waterways,” adds EGP Co-Managing Director Mathias Tenisson.
The promotion of more transport on water and rail routes, the associated multimodal concept, and training activities have motivated us to support the network with our membership. These are important topics. We are already connected with members but would like to expand this further and therefore believe we fit very well into the spc, emphasize both managing directors.
“The portfolio and multimodal activities of EGP fit very well into the spc network. One of our goals is to strengthen our presence in the eastern German federal states, and EGP’s membership will further promote this,” says spc Chairman Knut Sander.
With hinterland traffic to and from the seaports and involvement in the Elbe Port Wittenberge, EGP sees itself as a partner of the waterway. To make proper use of the port function, a swift implementation of the overall Elbe concept is anticipated.
With EGP, the association counts 60 members.
