24. March 2021Logistics Areas Are Becoming More Interesting for Investors
24. March 2021The globally operating full-service provider Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is tapping into new markets in the Middle East: After launching operations in Oman last summer, the company has now also opened its first branch in Egypt during a virtual inauguration ceremony.
(Osnabrück/Dubai) The goal of entering the two strategically important MESA countries is to expand the regional Hellmann network across all product areas and to sustainably develop new customer groups and business fields in the Middle East.
Hellmann has been present in the MESA region since 1999 and has since developed into a leading logistics service provider, particularly in the areas of automotive, fashion, and healthcare logistics. Today, the logistics provider employs over 1,800 people in the Middle East at a total of 80 locations with a warehouse area of over 200,000m².
The Entire Portfolio in Egypt
Through the new Egyptian head office in Cairo, Hellmann offers the entire product portfolio, with the local company primarily handling imports from Europe, North America, and Asia. At the same time, the new location serves as a gateway to COMESA and Middle Eastern countries. To sustainably tap into this strategically important and economically strong market, Hellmann plans to open two more operational locations in Port Sokhna and Alexandria in October of this year.
In July 2020, Hellmann advanced its expansion in the Middle East by opening several operational and administrative branches in Oman. The goal is to establish a seamless supply chain in the Middle East and to increasingly be present in the economically strong Oman, which is also an important trading partner for the neighboring Gulf states.
Already Established in the MESA Region
“The investments in Egypt and Oman clearly demonstrate the strategic importance of the MESA region for us as a company and the potential we see here,” said Reiner Heiken, Chief Executive Officer, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
“In recent years, Hellmann has already established itself as a market leader in the MESA region, particularly in the areas of automotive and healthcare logistics, but we are also a very important player in the e-commerce segment today. The expansion into Egypt and Oman marks another crucial step on our growth path in the Middle East and North Africa,” said Madhav Kurup, Regional CEO MESA, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
