What Does the Suez Blockade Mean for the Swiss Economy
29. March 2021Acito Logistics Chooses Transport Route via the New Silk Road
29. March 2021The supply, logistics, and transport organizations ASFL SVBL, ASTAG, GS1 Switzerland, procure.ch, SPEDLOGSWISS, VNL Switzerland, and the Logistics Foundation Switzerland jointly founded the Swiss Association SWISS SUPPLY on March 26, 2021, and form its sponsorship. The main concern is to strengthen the reputation of the entire logistics sector.
(Dietikon) The national supply in the areas of procurement, logistics, storage, transport, freight forwarding, as well as disposal and recycling has been a system-relevant backbone of the Swiss economy not just since Corona. In Switzerland, one in five, totaling over a million employees, is directly or indirectly active in this sector. Despite this central importance for the economy and the population, their performance contribution is often underestimated. The reputation is in need of improvement, and there is often a lack of knowledge about the diverse job profiles and career opportunities.
On the occasion of the successful implementation of the exhibition “Experience Logistics!” at the Swiss Transport Museum in Lucerne, the desire for collaboration arose.
Strengthening Initiatives with Combined Forces
To jointly, actively, and sustainably improve the reputation of “supply, logistics, and transport” in Switzerland, seven organizations founded the association SWISS SUPPLY. With combined forces, existing initiatives are to be strengthened, and new joint activities initiated. The new association aims to promote the reputation of logistics, supply chain, and transport in Switzerland and aims to inform and educate the public
- about the fundamental importance of value chains
- about the contribution of the industries responsible for goods supply and disposal/recycling to the economy and society, and
- about the versatility of job profiles and career opportunities within these industries and functions.
