7. April 2021PUMA’s New Logistics Hub Has Commenced Operations
7. April 2021The speculative logistics park by Panattoni is being developed on 111,715 sqm of brownfield land in the Voerde region of Lower Rhine. MT Deutschland is the first to utilize the new property with around 22,000 sqm of logistics space. The completion of the property is scheduled for November 2021. The roof of the complex is to be fully equipped with photovoltaic systems.
(Hamburg/Voerde) Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, announces the leasing of the first unit of the Panattoni Park in Voerde, North Rhine-Westphalia. The user is MT Deutschland based in Krefeld, a subsidiary of the MT Systems Group, a company specializing in the cleaning of RPC (Reusable Packaging Containers) with its headquarters in Perpignan, France.
With the leasing in the Panattoni Park Voerde, MT Deutschland is establishing a third and its largest depot in Germany to date. MT has leased one of two independent building units on the site. The unit comprises around 22,000 sqm of space for logistics, office, and mezzanine.
Cleaning of Fruit and Vegetable Boxes
In the innovatively equipped depot, up to 350,000 fruit and vegetable boxes are to be cleaned daily in a 3-shift operation to prepare them for use by Rewe, Aldi, Tegut, or Metro. All processes are highly automated and designed for a sustainable, CO2-neutral operation. For this reason, it is planned to equip the roof completely with photovoltaic systems. A combined heat and power plant (CHP) is also to provide electricity and hot water for the work processes and the washing lines. MT Systems will create around 75 new jobs on-site.
Albert Oldenburger, Director Germany at the MT Systems Group, is very satisfied with the choice of the new location: “It fits perfectly into our expansion strategy, not only in terms of location and transport connections but also in terms of rapid commissioning. The speculative construction by Panattoni was very helpful for this.”

Good Transport Links
The Panattoni Park Voerde is being developed in close proximity to the economic and logistics regions of Duisburg and the Lower Rhine. The park has excellent connectivity to the inland ports along the Rhine. The site is located in a long-established industrial area and has quick access without passing through towns to the federal motorways A 3, A 59, and A 57. The Dutch border can also be reached quickly.
Panattoni started the development of the park without pre-leasing on a plot of approximately 111,715 sqm. Two independent building bodies are being created with a total rental area of approximately 66,802 sqm, of which around 59,032 sqm is logistics space, 2,670 sqm is office and social space, and 5,100 sqm is mezzanine space. Additionally, there will be 262 car parking spaces.
The concept for the Panattoni Park in Voerde is characterized by high third-party usability, energy and sustainability standards, and a multifunctional building layout. Certification according to DGNB Gold Standard (German Sustainable Building Council) is being pursued for the properties. The outdoor facilities are to be designed attractively to blend into the overall area.
Predestined for Logistics Uses
Fred-Markus Bohne explains about the project: “The area and our modern logistics park are predestined for logistics uses in the Ruhr area and beyond. The high population density, the multitude of companies from various sectors, and the multimodal transport connections, along with our modern, high-quality concept, make the park very attractive. We are pleased to be able to provide MT Systems with the required expansion space.”
Last year, Panattoni began the demolition of existing buildings and the preparation of the site. The demolition company ensured that materials from the demolition mass were reused. Construction work began in April 2021. The completion of the logistics park is scheduled for November 2021. Colliers and Realogis have been commissioned for the marketing of the Panattoni Park Voerde.
