The experts of the EV team help prepare for a quantum leap in production and transport that the new technology brings. The increasing number of electric vehicles (EV) is also driving battery logistics forward.
(Bonn) In response to the growing demand from businesses and the public for detailed information about electric vehicles, Deutsche Post DHL Group has launched a new online TV initiative. The EV team’s series at DHL, focusing on battery logistics, consists of 12 episodes, which are further supplemented by webinars and podcasts. The company’s expertise in battery logistics is also based on the development of the StreetScooter and its involvement in Formula E. The experts of the EV team share insights and research findings and help prepare for a quantum leap in production and transport that the new technology brings. The initiative is part of DHL’s commitment to strengthen its EV logistics portfolio and aligns with the increased pace at which Deutsche Post DHL Group is advancing the decarbonization of the company. To this end, the company will invest a total of 7 billion euros over the next ten years in measures to reduce its CO2 emissions, which includes expanding its emissions-free electric vehicle fleet.
Dramatic Change in the Automotive Industry
“The automotive industry is currently undergoing a dramatic change. With the increasing demand for electric vehicles and the transition from fossil fuels to modern technology, logistics companies must also adapt their offerings. With our EV TV program, we can provide our customers with a better understanding of the entire electromobility sector and our related solutions,” says Fathi Tlatli, President Global Auto-Mobility, DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation. “We are a reliable partner with extensive expertise, mastering the logistical challenges of today and tomorrow while offering innovative solutions across the entire supply chain.” The EV team can draw on a wealth of insights and experiences from all areas of electromobility and support its customers in building and developing stable and efficient EV supply chains – including the storage of EV batteries and their transport by air, sea, and land.
Full Range of EV Logistics Services Supports Electromobility Boom
The market for EV batteries is growing significantly. By 2025, Frost & Sullivan predicts that electric vehicles will account for 16 percent of global car sales. This changes the supply chains of original equipment manufacturers of battery cells and battery packs and also affects important aspects of aftermarket service, especially regarding a second life for EV batteries. As an experienced partner, DHL’s EV team supports automakers and their suppliers with fast and comprehensive customs clearance, integrated and compliant transport management across multiple countries, and the development of return and exchange programs for batteries while providing dealer support. Additionally, the offering includes end customer support, more efficient battery inventory management, and the ability to act as a central point of contact for all battery flows in the aftermarket. Therefore, customers do not need to invest in their own infrastructure; DHL helps to make the logistics of batteries and electric vehicles flexible and agile with its global network.
Illuminating the Entire Value Chain
In the TV series, DHL’s EV team illuminates the entire value chain of rapidly advancing electromobility, from energy generation to vehicle range, from proper storage to battery safety. International experts from many fields share their knowledge about EV technology with the EV team. The material will be made available on a newly established DHL EV TV hub as well as on a range of social media channels.
