14. April 2021VTG Rail Europe and IMATEQ join forces to launch a joint workshop for integrated maintenance. The Integrated Railway Maintenance Pole is the first Italian hub offering a range of services for the entire train system.
(Hamburg/Rivalta Scriva) During the Corona crisis, rail freight transport once again demonstrated its strategic and crucial role in securing supply chains in European countries. However, to maintain a high standard of performance and reliability, it is essential to ensure regular maintenance, repair, and modernization while keeping downtime as short as possible.
Now, two industry leaders have come together to provide a holistic service and maintenance approach for the entire train system. VTG and IMATEQ Italia, the local service location of Vossloh Locomotives in Rivalta Scrivia (Piedmont region in Italy), offer a joint workshop for locomotives and wagons at the newly established Integrated Railway Maintenance Pole.
Concept à la “Pit Stop”
The Integrated Railway Maintenance Pole is located at the Katoen Natie Logistics Interport, a logistics platform that connects 350,000 of its total 450,000 square meters to the RFI rail network. VTG and IMATEQ present themselves here as reliable partners, providing national operators with a dependable, efficient, and competitive service with intervention times based on the concept of a “pit stop” for the entire rail system. “We look forward to collaborating and exchanging knowledge with IMATEQ to achieve the best possible outcome for our customers. Our organization is structured to ensure quality and short downtimes, thereby creating a competitive advantage,” says Steffen Gahtow, Head of Maintenance and Procurement at VTG. Walter Serra, Senior Director at IMATEQ, emphasizes: “In times of Covid-19, where rail transport has proven to be a strategic and crucial element for our country, we can assure local operators a reliable, efficient, and competitive maintenance service together with VTG.”
Central Cooperation Project
“We see this as a central cooperation project that sends an important signal for the future and sustainably supports freight transport and safety on the railways,” adds Stefan Herr, Vice President Sales at Vossloh Locomotives. All workshop services are guaranteed and certified in accordance with legal, regulatory, and railway safety-related frameworks.
