15. April 2021Delays caused by the incident of the MS Ever Given in the Suez Canal are affecting logistics. Dakosy’s Import Message Platform (IMP) provides up-to-date information on planned ship arrivals and berth registrations at the Port of Hamburg. Forwarders receive status messages and updates about the containers they are expecting.
(Hamburg) The delays in shipping traffic caused by the blockage of the Suez Canal have disrupted the established shipping schedules. All parties involved, from container shipping companies to terminals and authorities, as well as forwarders, hinterland carriers, and importers, must adapt flexibly to changed processing times.
Thanks to the high level of digital networking in the port economy through DAKOSY’s Port Community System, forwarders are well positioned, emphasizes Stefan Saß, Managing Director of the Association of Hamburg Forwarders, and adds: “The Import Message Platform provides the precise status of every ship expected in Hamburg. If there is a schedule or berth change – even at short notice – the platform automatically determines which container is affected and sends this information to the relevant forwarder and/or carrier, provided there is an order for the anticipated container.”
Planning Security with IMP
The Port of Hamburg, with DAKOSY, has a highly integrative, networked, and transparent ECO-system, emphasizes DAKOSY board member Dieter Spark. Their platforms, such as the IMP for import processing, enable port customers to significantly reduce transport times while minimizing costs through the optimization, control, and automation of data exchange. Forwarders who are not yet using the IMP should join in the short term to also benefit from these advantages in the future.
In light of current events, DAKOSY is inviting participants to a free half-hour webinar on April 20, 2021, under the title “More Transparency and Planning Security through the IMP.”
