(Munich) 2,000 additional air freight shipments compared to the previous year: This proud increase was recorded by the logistics service provider GROUP7 alone last month at the Frankfurt location. “We have positioned ourselves well for both international e-commerce business and e-fulfillment processes and are now benefiting from the boom in online retail,” explains Günther Jocher, board member of GROUP7. For logistics processes such as repacking, labeling, customs clearance, and distribution, the company has hired more than 30 new employees in recent weeks. The hiring continues at full speed – even in the midst of the Corona pandemic.
GROUP7 Supports with Customs Expertise for Shipments to Third Countries
“It is our specialty to deliver shipments across Europe to end customers. It is no longer sufficient to deliver consolidated shipments to a hub. The solution must now be implemented right to the customer’s doorstep, including all further processes such as returns management and payment processing,” says Jocher. One of GROUP7’s core competencies is customs clearance. “Brexit is currently showing that many shippers need support for shipments to third countries,” he adds.
Realizing Synergy Effects from Store Deliveries and E-Commerce
When it comes to nationwide distribution in Germany, GROUP7 presents itself as an all-rounder. “We see our particular strength in serving all sales channels: from supplying stores to e-commerce business. Our customers appreciate the synergies, for example in returns management. With our logistics centers located in metropolitan regions, we are quick both in the shops and with the end customer,” explains Hubert Borghoff, logistics manager and authorized signatory of GROUP7.
Global Shopping Platform for B2B Buyers for 10 Years
In addition to supplying end customers, GROUP7 has also positioned itself in the B2B sector. For over 10 years, GROUP7 has operated a global electronic B2B ordering platform. The entire backend management, including the customer service center and purchase order management, is handled by the logistics service provider. And more and more B2B buyers appreciate these electronic services. A study by McKinsey & Company found last year that more than 75% of B2B buyers and sellers prefer to operate online.
