29. April 2021With the first groundbreaking, the pharmaceutical logistics provider Med-X-Press has kicked off the construction of a new warehouse for controlled substances (BtM) at its headquarters in Goslar. The investment volume amounts to 4.5 million euros. This move responds to the growing demand in this segment of pharmaceutical logistics.
(Goslar) The new building is a response to the increasing demand for BtM logistics in a growing market with complex requirements. The new “high-security section” will accommodate around 4,000 pallets and additionally features 1,000 square meters of space for order picking and packaging.
“The construction of a BtM warehouse has parallels to BtM logistics: high legal standards apply regarding safety and quality,” emphasizes Lars Dörhage, managing partner of Med-X-Press. Consequently, safety and climate technology played a significant role in the construction planning. A “climate-controlled vault” will be created, which also meets sustainability criteria. The planned green roof will help reduce the effects of heating in summer and cooling in winter.
With the recent groundbreaking, Med-X-Press is taking another step in its expansion within a specialized segment of pharmaceutical logistics. For over ten years, the medium-sized company has been an established BtM specialist and has significantly expanded not only its storage capacities but also its service offerings for customers in this area.
Market for Controlled Substances Has Been Growing for Years
The market for controlled substances has been growing for years and received an additional boost from the conditional approval of medical cannabis. By exploring new business areas, such as stability storage for controlled substances or consulting on import and export, Med-X-Press offers a wide range of services.
The establishment of the new BtM warehouse completes these services with a significant expansion of storage capacities that meet the requirements of Med-X-Press customers for compliant handling of controlled substances.
