May 10, 2021 at 5:54 PMWith traigo, VTG, the largest private freight wagon rental company in Europe, launched digital fleet management last year. After providing various information related to the rental business, VTG is now taking the next step with traigo: interaction with customers. Users can now check the availability of wagons and submit non-binding inquiries.
(Hamburg) In the “Wagon Rental” tool, traigo users can now check the availability of wagons and submit a non-binding request for an offer. “Our goal with traigo is not only the digitization of rail but also a new customer experience. We want to make rail more transparent, efficient, and easier for our customers,” says Sven Wellbrock, Chief Operating Officer Europe & Chief Safety Officer of VTG AG.
New Digital Application for Efficient Rail Transport
In addition to the already established functions in traigo, such as the “Mileage Forecast” or “Condition Monitoring,” there is now the possibility to see which wagons are available in the new “Wagon Rental” tool and to request them directly. Currently, the service is offered for intermodal wagons. Users can filter by wagon type – that is, pocket wagons and container flat wagons – as well as by location and technical aspects. Furthermore, the desired mileage and the time from which the wagons should be rented can be selected. These can then be requested directly, and the sales representatives of VTG will respond with a corresponding offer. “To make the rail transport mode attractive in the long term, we have focused our mindset on customers and placed their transport needs at the center of our actions,” says Thomas Dittmann, Head of Product traigo. “More individualized, faster, and more transparent solutions are expected – online and available at any time. We respond to this with traigo: bringing the digital world to rail.”
Further Functions in Planning
With traigo, a digital counterpart to the previous analog service offering is being created. In addition to the development and provision of further functions, such as online rental of wagons, provision of damage reports, or the expansion of the “Condition Monitoring” feature, VTG plans to eventually open the offer to interested parties who are not yet VTG customers.
