11. May 2021With the newly founded BigMile Germany GmbH in Karlsruhe, the SaaS software solution of the company BigMile for calculating and optimizing the CO2 footprint is now also available to the logistics industry in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The managing director of the new company will be industry expert Dirk Franke.
(Karlsruhe) For reducing CO2 emissions within the supply chain, an accurate and meaningful determination of the CO2 footprint is of utmost importance. Due to the large number of influencing factors and application scenarios, this task is extremely challenging. The solution to this challenge by the Dutch parent company of the newly founded German company is called BigMile and is the SaaS standard platform for calculating, analyzing, and optimizing the supply chain CO2 footprint. With the help of BigMile, shippers and transport service providers automatically comply with European data collection and reporting standards for emissions in the logistics industry. The effort associated with meeting these requirements is eliminated for logistics companies.
Especially important: BigMile users also receive powerful analysis tools for the operational optimization of emissions and the associated costs. This is particularly crucial for shippers from industry and trade as well as logistics service providers, as the constantly tightening EU climate targets and the associated laws and regulations require concrete action.
All Modes of Transport Up to the Last Mile
BigMile takes into account all modalities (truck, ship, train, and airplane, as well as future alternatives such as cargo bikes and drones) as well as warehouses and depots along the entire supply chain. A decisive advantage of this solution: The platform enables cross-company action and the unlocking of the associated (often enormous) potentials. Intelligent data sharing, which allows the participating companies to exchange relevant data among themselves, is one of the unique features of the solution. Of course, the highest standards for comprehensive data security are ensured.
BigMile originated in the Netherlands from logistics practice in close cooperation with the logistics CO2 reduction program Lean & Green. Over 200 users already utilize the platform there to gain insight into their actual CO2 footprint and reduce it efficiently. Among them are many well-known international companies, such as DHL, DPD, Van den Bosch, Ceva, postNL, Ricoh, ABInBev, etc., which have already successfully implemented the BigMile solution on a European or even global scale.
Valuable Contribution to Ecological Regulation
As managing director of BigMile Germany GmbH, Dirk Franke (53) is responsible for sales and customer support of the new company in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Jack Pool, CEO of the parent company BigMile B.V., comments on the appointment of the renowned logistics specialist: “I am very pleased that we have been able to attract an experienced industry expert like Dirk Franke for this important market.”
Dirk Franke emphasizes his commitment to supporting logistics in complying with ecological regulations at the national and European level: “As a passionate logistician, I am very keen to prepare our industry for the ecological future challenges. BigMile will now also make a valuable contribution in the DACH region. I am already looking forward to collaborating with shippers and transport service providers.”
