GREIWING Logistics Center Expansion Completed Two Months Early

GREIWING logistics for you GmbH has put into operation 12,300 additional pallet spaces and 15 high silos at its location at Logport in Duisburg. And this long before the planned completion of the construction project: Although the official inauguration took place only now, the Münster branch of GOLDBECK GmbH handed over the property to its client two months earlier. Thus, the successful partnership between the two companies has another chapter. This was already the third expansion for the Duisburg location.

(Münster/Duisburg) Over the past months, a 5,000 square meter logistics center with 12,300 additional pallet spaces in movable racks and 15 high silos for the storage and filling of free-flowing goods has been built on 11,800 square meters of the area on Hamburger Straße. Instead of the initially planned completion in July, the acceptance now took place in May of this year – just under nine months after the groundbreaking.

Now GREIWING has more than 80,000 pallet spaces and 27 silos in Duisburg. “The great development in Duisburg continues thanks to our consistent investments in the location,” says Jürgen Greiwing, Managing Partner of GREIWING logistics for you GmbH. Just in 2019, GREIWING had expanded the storage capacity by 8,000 pallet spaces.

A Rapid Development and a Close Partnership

As in the past with six other projects, the logistics service provider relied on GOLDBECK Münster as a partner for the construction. “As a satisfied regular customer, we know what we get here from a single source. Every project has been a pleasure so far, and I am sure it will be the same in the future,” says Greiwing about the general contractor.

GOLDBECK returned the trust and constructed the spacious logistics hall – which includes space for pallet spaces in movable racks, picking areas, a silage area, and a filling area with three filling silos – in record time. Additionally, there is now another high silo storage facility consisting of twelve silos, each with a capacity of 355 cubic meters. Here, GREIWING stores and processes free-flowing goods from the chemical and plastics industry up to water hazard class (WGK) 1 according to HACCP and GMP standards.

Greiwing also emphasizes that the end of the development is not yet reached: “With our entire corporate group, we continue to pursue ambitious goals. We want to grow further in the interest of our customers and thus offer them higher capacities and more options. We are far from being at our goal.”

Reliable Planning – High-Quality, Fast Implementation

Christian Terwey, Branch Manager of GOLDBECK Münster, is pleased about the ongoing partnership: “The greatest praise is, of course, the next order. Then we know that we are doing a lot right.” GOLDBECK builds for GREIWING nationwide and is characterized by reliable planning and high-quality, fast implementation. Even in Duisburg, the team performed such good work throughout the entire period that it became clear over the winter: The planned acceptance date in May would be undercut by almost two months.

This agility is needed in the logistics industry, where storage space must be quickly available. Andreas Wermelt, Project Manager at GOLDBECK Münster, attributes the success to the special, systematized construction method: “In our factories, we manufacture modular precast concrete parts in advance. On the construction site, these elements are then simply assembled according to the Lego principle.” This makes one extremely flexible and maintains a consistently high standard for all requirements.
