16. May 2021For the third consecutive year, the career Institute & Verlag has recognized the parcel service provider GLS Germany as the German industry winner in the category of Transport, Traffic, and Logistics. This was honored with the awarding of the quality seal in gold. GLS also made it into the top ten in the overall ranking.
(Neuenstein) The Best Recruiters study examined the recruiting quality of around 1,300 companies in the D-A-CH region in its 2020/21 edition, using 233 individual criteria developed at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The focus of the survey and evaluation was the Candidate Journey. Among the companies tested in Germany from the transport, traffic, and logistics sectors, GLS again secured first place – ahead of a number of well-known players in the industry – and received the Best Recruiters seal in gold. In the overall ranking, GLS achieved 5th place.
Personal and Target Group-Oriented
In the king discipline of “Mystery Jobbing,” the study evaluates the direct application experiences of test candidates. GLS is one of the few companies examined that offers the option to apply via video. Testers particularly appreciated the opportunity for video pitch applications for warehouse staff. Without cover letters, resumes, and forms, commercial employees can authentically present themselves in front of the camera and apply for their desired job almost as personally as if they were standing in front of the depot manager.
Best Recruiters itself also relies on the power of video – and awarded the winners again on YouTube due to the pandemic. In her laudation, study director Astrid Koller praised, among other things, the target group orientation of the application process of GLS Germany. Since the introduction of video use in the application process (2019), the company has almost completely switched from telephone conversations to video. Initially, this tool was intended as a supplement to the application process in the commercial sector.
Further Expanding Video Recruiting
“Especially in recent months, video has developed into an outstanding and simultaneously uncomplicated option for all involved to fill our open positions in the office and warehouse with urgently needed, suitable personnel despite the pandemic,” says Claudia Wolf, Manager HR Recruiting & Development at GLS Germany. “We will therefore further expand the use of videos in recruiting and employer branding in the future. We are fully aware of our responsibility to supply the population during the crisis and are doing everything we can to handle the correspondingly increased package volumes reliably as usual. At GLS, people make the difference – that’s why we are looking for the right people.”
