19. May 2021At the container terminal of Dinges Logistics in Grünstadt, the existing software is being replaced by the Terminal Operating System (TOS) from the Aachen optimization specialist INFORM. The configuration of the new TOS is currently being implemented and is expected to be fully completed in the 4th quarter of 2021.
(Aachen/Grünstadt) “When selecting a new TOS, we wanted to rely on an experienced and proven provider who can reliably support us in making our daily work more transparent and efficient,” explains company owner Ingo Dinges. In January, the logistics company near Mannheim awarded the project to INFORM. The configuration of the new TOS is currently being implemented and is expected to be fully completed in the 4th quarter of 2021.
Ingo Dinges aims to network and harmonize the numerous areas of his entire service offering with the new software to create more transparency while simultaneously reducing service times. “Investing in a modern digitalization solution is a key element for us to achieve this goal,” he explains.
System Experienced in Live Operation
The solution from INFORM quickly convinced: “During the selection process, we were able to experience the system in live operation at another terminal. The results and discussions with the professionals there showed us that this TOS is the leader among all systems,” says Dinges. The modular software can be customized for any inland terminal. It optimizes the handling of loading units in real-time as well as the deployment of the necessary equipment. This way, it optimally utilizes the full potential of existing resources and reduces the need for costly investments in new infrastructure.
From its headquarters in Aachen, INFORM serves maritime ports and inland terminals worldwide with add-on optimization systems and TOS solutions. “Our software for the container and inland terminal industry combines decades of industry experience with 50 years of optimization expertise. This has made us one of the leading providers in the market,” comments Dr. Eva Savelsberg, Head of Logistics at INFORM.
Already in Use by Other Inland Terminal Operators
The fact that the solution from INFORM is already in use by German inland terminal operators, including KTL and Samskip, strengthens the trust in the partnership for Timo Mayer, Site and Project Manager at Dinges Logistics: “We felt that the project managers understood our needs very well and always kept the long-term impact of the solution on our terminal in mind. It was a partnership from the very beginning and not just a simple purchase of software.”
For Dr. Savelsberg, the project with Dinges Logistics demonstrates the good scalability of the software: “The Grünstadt terminal of Dinges Logistics is our smallest intermodal TOS implementation to date. Our software is very flexible and thus capable of supporting terminals of all sizes in the areas of digitalization and intelligent optimization.”
