20. May 2021Scania Ready Built saves time and accelerates the delivery process of the fully assembled refrigerated vehicle. For temperature-controlled transport, Scania is now launching a new concept that will be presented with a nationwide roadshow at Scania branches. The system partner for the assembly is Schmitz Cargobull.
(Koblenz) Scania offers fully assembled refrigerated vehicles for urban and regional use. The Scania chassis is combined with a refrigerated body from the system partner Schmitz Cargobull. In addition to the city version, a universal box is now available, which can be individually specified with all cabs, engines, and three different axle configurations in two frame heights. The new concept will now be introduced at Scania branches during a nationwide roadshow.
“The demonstration vehicle Scania P 280 B4x2NA is a particularly lightweight and cost-effective refrigerated vehicle for urban operations,” says Thiemo Freyer, Product Manager Urban Trucks, Scania Germany Austria. Due to its high maneuverability, it is particularly well-suited for urban applications with high curbs and narrow streets. The low P cab allows for easier entry and exit in everyday use. The Scania Ready Built refrigerated vehicle impresses with a fuel-efficient and quiet 7-liter engine with the latest EURO VI D exhaust technology, thus protecting the environment. The refrigerated box is manufactured by Schmitz Cargobull and offers excellent insulation, allows for easy and quick cleaning, and features a well-lit and non-slip interior.
Universal Refrigerated Box for Urban Deliveries
In the universal application, the box construction SchmitzCargo MKO FP60 is used, which is equipped with Scania’s turning assistant and a rearview camera. It can be optionally ordered with a longitudinally adjustable and foldable cross partition, allowing the refrigerated cargo space to be flexibly adapted to the load, thus saving energy. The cooling of the cargo area is handled by the THERMO KING T-1000R Wisper. The particularly robust yet quiet front wall cooling system has low energy consumption and is easy to maintain. The loading volume of the refrigerated box allows for a length of 7,400 mm and a height of 2,450 mm, accommodating up to 18 EURO pallets while providing enough space for load securing rails and poorly positioned cargo.
As a rear closure, the under-ride loading platform from Bär Cargolift, model BC 2000 R42, is complemented by two rear doors. With two load securing rails and a lifting capacity of two tons, this lift platform is ideally optimized for roll containers and pallet goods. The slip-resistant TracGrip surface also increases safety, even in wet conditions.
The New All-Rounder in Universal Use
“With the new universal concept, Scania is now bringing the all-rounder among refrigerated vehicles to the market. Whether food, pharmaceutical products, or flowers – the Scania Ready Built refrigerated vehicle Universal is versatile,” describes Freyer the new concept from Scania. With FRC certification, deliveries in the city as well as cross-border transport are possible. The special feature: Together with the seller, the customer can individually configure the vehicle. It is flexible in height and can be built with a total vehicle height starting from 3,690 mm. The cooling system is available as a front wall or underfloor cooling, with options to choose between manufacturers Carrier or THERMO KING. Depending on the application area, the loading platform is also offered as a standing or under-ride version by manufacturers Bär or Dautel. These options are available for all model series and for engines from 7 liters to 16 liters, making the Scania Ready Built refrigerated vehicle Universal a true all-rounder.
Tailored Solutions from a Single Source
“Scania Ready Built enables the individual and flexible configuration of a fully finished refrigerated vehicle. Through a modular system in chassis and body, the complete vehicle can be tailored to the wishes and requirements of the customer,” explains Freyer. From the time of ordering, Scania takes over the coordination between partners, logistics, and production. This accelerates the delivery process for the fully assembled refrigerated vehicle. Another advantage: The customer has only one contact person from the vehicle order to delivery – they get “Everything from a Single Source.” Even after delivery, Scania offers a seamless continuation of services. Comprehensive services such as a repair and maintenance contract (R&W contract) as well as financing and insurance are offered to the customer. The maintenance and repair of the complete vehicle, including body, cooling unit, and loading platform, is then handled by the Scania workshop.
