20. May 2021The service card provider UTA is now partnering with the German LNG filling station operator LIQUIND 24/7. Through this collaboration, UTA currently has nearly 170 LNG filling stations in ten countries, including 26 in Germany, thus claiming to have the largest LNG network in Europe. LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is considered a cost-effective alternative to diesel.
(Kleinostheim/Berlin) UTA, one of the leading providers of fuel and service cards in Europe and part of the Edenred Group, is collaborating with LIQUIND 24/7: UTA customers now have access to eight LNG filling stations operated by the Berlin-based company, located in Duisburg, Sülzetal, Crailsheim, Strullendorf, Mannheim, Göttingen, Wustermark, and Schüttorf. Throughout this year, additional locations from the new partner are expected to be connected to UTA’s supply network. With this current expansion, UTA’s LNG supply network grows to nearly 170 stations at strategically important traffic hubs in ten countries, making it the largest LNG network in Europe. The filling stations are displayed in the free UTA Station Finder app, which also directs users to the nearest car wash or workshop.
Increasing Demand for Alternative Fuels
“With the expansion of our LNG supply network, we are meeting the increasing demand for alternative fuels,” explains Carsten Bettermann, CEO of UTA. “This allows us to offer our customers even greater supply security along all routes across Europe. At the same time, we provide freight forwarders with the incentive to switch to more environmentally friendly fuels.” Currently, UTA collaborates with 70 partners in the LNG sector, who also provide the mandatory safety training for LNG refueling. UTA’s complete acceptance network currently includes 67,000 filling stations across Europe. In the future, multi-energy filling stations that additionally offer LNG, hydrogen, LPG, and CNG will be increasingly connected alongside traditional fuel providers.
Growing Outside Germany
LIQUIND 24/7 currently operates 13 LNG filling stations in Germany, with twelve more already in planning. “We are pleased to collaborate with a renowned partner like UTA to further expand the LNG offering,” says Philip Maximilian Braunschweig, Head of Sales at LIQUIND. “We aim to make the ecological and economic advantages of alternative fuels accessible not only throughout the German market but also plan a European roll-out in the future.” After all, LNG is a promising alternative fuel in multiple respects. Not only are fuel costs lower for heavy trucks over 18 tons with an annual mileage of at least 100,000 kilometers compared to diesel vehicles, but LNG trucks also score points with low emissions of fine dust, nitrogen, CO2, and last but not least noise, which is particularly advantageous for deliveries outside of normal hours.
