27. May 2021Körber and BALYO Announce Strategic Partnership
28. May 2021The European Cargo Alliance of International Forwarders AG (ELVIS) officially established the pan-European transport network Paneco last month in collaboration with the logistics networks Kommodus (Poland), Cargo24 (Switzerland), and ABC Business Network (Italy). Together with 15 local partners, this network of networks covers all major economic zones in Europe from the outset in the areas of general cargo and partial loads. The company, which operates as a public limited company, is based in Zug, Switzerland. The start of operations is planned for July.
(Alzenau) “Europe is one of the largest economic zones in the world. However, the fragmented structure and accompanying language barriers make it particularly difficult for many small and medium-sized logistics companies to establish comprehensive business models,” says Jochen Eschborn, board member of the European Cargo Alliance of International Forwarders AG. The lucrative access to the revenue-rich market for general cargo and partial loads was thus almost exclusively reserved for the large companies in the industry. Through Paneco, small and medium-sized forwarders and carriers can now also participate in this attractive business and offer pan-European general cargo and partial load transports at competitive conditions.
Daily Scheduled Line Services
“In the past, the necessary transport volume was often lacking to serve multiple stations daily in each country,” says Eschborn. The Paneco network solves this problem by connecting all economic areas of Europe through daily scheduled line services and countless hubs and gateways.
The basis for this is a specially developed web-based IT platform that accesses local systems as a higher-level unit and ensures the flow of data between the connected companies and cooperations. “We rely on the existing national structures and tariffs of each country. Thus, an international shipment no longer requires special treatment,” explains Eschborn. Additionally, by using modern translation software, companies can communicate in their respective national languages. “This makes the system very user-friendly and allows every connected forwarder to offer their customers good prices, transit times, and tracking information even for just one pallet to Tirana in Albania from now on,” says Eschborn.
Two Years of Preparation
Almost two years of intensive preparation preceded the official establishment of the company last month. Initial discussions had already taken place at the Munich Transport Fair in 2019. In addition to the IT platform for networking companies, tariff models and line service concepts have been developed, as well as a volume and quality control system.
Through the four involved alliances and currently 15 local partners, the network of networks already covers all significant economic areas of Europe from Finland in the north to Greece in the south. However, the founding mothers and fathers do not want to stop there. The goal is to expand the services of Paneco comprehensively across the entire continent. The operational start of Paneco is planned for July.
