10. June 2021Companies Significantly More Optimistic After Third Wave of Corona
12. June 2021Dematic expands in Austria, thereby strengthening its presence in an important industrial location. The intralogistics specialist has expanded its capacities in Graz and has moved into new large premises covering 1,200 square meters over two floors. As part of the international orientation for the coming years, the Alpine Republic plays an important role as both a development and sales location.
(Heusenstamm/Graz) From Graz, Dematic serves markets in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. At the same time, the branch is part of a decentralized concept, with over 15 locations in Europe alone and more than 50 worldwide.
“The expansion of the Graz location is a strategically important step for us to advance the international orientation of our brand and to be well-positioned for the future in the Austrian market,” says Rainer Buchmann, SVP and Managing Director of Dematic Central Europe. In addition to the technical development of Dematic solutions and project management, the proven software and customer service are part of the branch’s range of services. “In this context, we offer modern and scalable concepts such as AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots) and Micro-Fulfillment to meet the strong growth in the intralogistics sector,” explains Buchmann.
Austria as an Attractive Business Location
Decisive for the expansion in Graz was, in addition to the geographically advantageous location in the center of Europe and the associated proximity to a variety of potential clients, also the infrastructure. Both the transport connections to highways, rail lines, and the airport, as well as the density of industry and distribution, are given. “For us, Austria as a business location is extremely interesting. We find everything necessary here to develop and market high-tech solutions,” emphasizes Buchmann. In terms of market size, Austria now hosts more leading manufacturers of intralogistics solutions than anywhere else in Europe.
In Dematic’s modern offices, highly specialized professionals are already employed. “For the development, production, and sales of our solutions, we are still looking for well-trained personnel in all areas,” says Buchmann. This is also why the Graz location is of strategic importance, as the training standard in both mechatronic professions and in software development and application is very high: “That’s why the region offers particularly great potential.”
Mix of Office and Home Office Concept
In this context, Dematic has also integrated its modern office concept at the branch. This allows for both mobile working from home and remote work from another location. “Video conferences and cross-location collaboration have long been part of our daily business. The strength of this concept has proven itself even more since the Covid-19 pandemic, which we have successfully managed,” adds Buchmann.
