23. June 2021(Munich) An independent jury of scientists and journalists selected three worthy winners from over 100 submissions, who truly embody the name ‘BEST PRODUCT’. They outstandingly meet the competition criteria: productivity enhancement, cost savings, and streamlining in logistics.
The three awards were presented to the lucky winners Grenzebach Maschinenbau GmbH, inotec Barcode Security, and KNAPP AG during the ‘LogiMAT.digital Summer Summit’ in front of a live camera. The industry event took place at the Stuttgart exhibition center and was simultaneously broadcast online. Thousands of international participants from the Intralogistics Community LogiMAT.digital had the opportunity to join live.
In his laudation, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert Schulz, head of the Institute for Materials Handling and Logistics (IFT) at the University of Stuttgart, honored not only the winners but also all applicants who applied for the award this year despite the absence of in-person events, emphasizing the innovative strength of the industry.
Category ‘Picking, Conveying, Lifting, Storage Technology’ awarded to Grenzebach Maschinenbau GmbH
The OL1200S creates the connection between omnidirectional driving and autonomous load carrier detection while simultaneously monitoring a 360° driving area. Its high maneuverability combined with load carrier detection allows it to autonomously pick up displaced load carriers in tight spaces. No additional sensors in the vehicle or fixtures on the container are necessary. Stations and transfer points are completely eliminated. Users benefit from space savings, low investment costs, and quick commissioning. Adjustments to existing systems can be made quickly and easily. In combination with the additional three-dimensional driving area monitoring, the OL1200S also detects obstacles in its path, depending on speed, all driving directions, and load. This helps users avoid transport damage. Stored schematic image data enables fault analysis and targeted process optimization. With this comprehensive package of services, the OL1200S makes autonomous parts transport, especially the transport of long load carriers, particularly efficient.
Category ‘Identification, Packaging and Loading Technology, Load Securing’ awarded to inotec Barcode Security GmbH
With the inotec RFID Inmould Label, permanent labeling of plastic pallets, containers, and trays is possible, such as the new GS1 Smart Box. The Inmould labels are resistant to wear, UV light, cleaning products, weak acids, and other chemicals. They are also permanently bonded to the container and completely hygienic. Thus, they meet the high hygiene requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industries and are industry-wide GS1 certified for meat container labeling. The single-layer label with an integrated barcode, printed RFID antenna, and mounted RFID chip is inseparably connected to the load carrier during the injection molding process. This makes the RFID tag an integral part of the load carrier and thus tamper-proof. RFID Inmould solutions are also perfect for reading data from a distance or without line of sight.
Category ‘Software, Communication, IT’ awarded to KNAPP AG
The ivii.smartdesk is an assembly workstation equipped with an image recognition and image processing system. Thus, the assembly work is 100 percent software-supported. The real-time feedback system of the ivii.smartdesk monitors every work step, enabling a zero-error strategy and continuous traceability in the assembly process – for example, in production. The image recognition and image processing system captures all components needed for assembly. Each work step is checked and validated. The next work step can only follow once the previous one has been recognized as ‘okay’ by the image processing system.
This ensures that all components are assembled in the correct order and quality. Thanks to the real-time feedback system, the employee receives immediate feedback on the quality of their execution. A playful approach to work steps – gamification – is motivating for employees and contributes to a learning organization and high employee satisfaction. The ivii.smartdesk can also be used in incoming goods to verify whether all goods have been delivered in the appropriate quantity and quality. The delivery is documented and stored, making subsequent proof of obligation easier. This not only saves time but also reduces complaint costs.
