TORWEGGE develops innovative ball roller corner transfer unit

TORWEGGE GmbH & Co. KG now manufactures custom corner transfer units. For a customer in the furniture industry, the conveyor technology specialist recently developed a prototype with ball rollers. Versatile in use, the further development of the classic version of the corner transfer unit can transport even the heaviest goods with a load capacity of up to 2,500 kilograms.

(Bielefeld) “At a certain weight, it is neither sensible nor reasonable to move goods manually. This is where relieving material flow solutions are needed. Against this background, we have been manufacturing custom conveyor technology components, such as the ball roller corner transfer unit, that can be combined into tailored systems for over 60 years,” says Tim Hallau, product manager at TORWEGGE GmbH & Co. KG. The new solution comes into play whenever load carriers need to be directed around a corner due to their layout or external conditions. Additionally, by integrating pallet roller tracks and ball rollers, it is possible to switch from cross to longitudinal transport.

Development in close collaboration with the customer

In development, TORWEGGE works closely with its customers. “To meet individual needs, we look very closely at the purposes for which the solution is required,” says Hallau. This was also the case in the development of the prototype of a corner transfer unit with ball rollers for a customer in the furniture industry. Due to the feet of the mesh boxes in which the goods are transported, all-direction rollers (AWR) were unsuitable. TORWEGGE then designed a solution with a ball roller holder that accommodates 15 ball rollers. In this way, the feet of a mesh box are supported in motion by alternating six ball rollers per foot, achieving a maximum load capacity of 2,500 kilograms. “Our solution enables reliable and robust transport while ensuring smooth material flow,” says Hallau. All components used come from the TORWEGGE range. The stop plate and the ball roller frames were individually manufactured by the conveyor technology specialist according to the area of application. Depending on the application, ball rollers can also be installed in various sizes. Customers from other industries can also benefit from the proven consulting expertise of the company.
