With the cargo airline CargoLogic Germany GmbH based at Leipzig/Halle Airport and the logistics service provider Weck+Poller Holding GmbH from Zwickau, the cooperation network now grows to 133 members. The goal is to further develop logistics in Central Germany through collaborative projects and to present the location internationally.
(Leipzig) With the latest German cargo airline CargoLogic Germany, another company strengthens the network at Leipzig/Halle Airport. The express freight sector is rapidly developing due to the rapidly growing online business. The airline plans to expand its fleet by two more freighters to a total of six Boeing 737-400F aircraft by the end of the year. Each of these can transport up to 20 tons of cargo. In addition to the group of air freight logistics providers, which is strongly represented in the network, Weck+Poller brings additional competencies as a provider of European road transport and various logistics and service offerings. Furthermore, the company is also active in the recycling of plastics from the automotive industry and in the production of e-storage charging stations.

Exchange in the Network has Proven Successful
“With CargoLogic Germany and Weck+Poller, we are gaining two emerging companies from Saxony. Both represent the positive development of the industry in Central Germany, from where goods can quickly and efficiently reach markets all over the world across different transport modes,” says Toralf Weiße, Chairman of the Board of the Logistics Network of Central Germany, adding: “In the past months of the pandemic, it became clear what an essential role logistics plays for the economy and society. In times of constantly changing restrictions, the continuous exchange in the network has proven successful. With our growing membership, we want to continue the close cooperation and strengthen the industry for the major challenges in sustainability, personnel security, and innovations.
Logistics Network of Central Germany e.V.
Founded in 2008, the Logistics Network Leipzig-Halle e.V. has been named Logistics Network of Central Germany e.V. since 2018 due to its expanded area of activity. It unites not only numerous “classic” logistics service providers but also companies from the field of logistics-related services, personnel and real estate industries, local authorities such as the cities of Leipzig and Halle, regional chambers of commerce, as well as research and educational institutions, including eight universities. Since 2016, the network has had regional offices in Dresden and Chemnitz.
The network represents the federal states of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt in the Association of Logistics Initiatives Germany. Among the central tasks of the network are, in addition to innovation, personnel and business development, the positioning of the logistics region of Central Germany as an established European gateway and central distribution location with fast connections, particularly to Eastern European and East Asian markets, to which cooperation with the Port of Hamburg and the logistics region of Sassnitz-Mukran in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern significantly contributes.
