Humbaur Reduces Waiting Times for Truck Drivers with Cargoclix’s SLOT

Humbaur GmbH, manufacturer of trailers and vehicle superstructures, is implementing the cloud-based time slot management system SLOT from Cargoclix at its headquarters in Gersthofen. By using the software, Humbaur ensures a better distribution at the five ramps and achieves faster processing of the trucks. The freight forwarders have embraced the system well.

Br./Gersthofen) The commercial vehicle manufacturer Humbaur, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of trailers and vehicle superstructures, has introduced the time slot management system SLOT from Cargoclix at its headquarters in Gersthofen near Augsburg. The cloud-based solution from the Freiburg-based system house has been supporting the congestion-free processing of around 28 trucks daily at the goods dispatch for several weeks now. “The system has been well received by almost all freight forwarders,” reports Haiko Huber, team leader of shipping dispatch at Humbaur GmbH. “The solution has enabled us to ensure a better distribution of trucks at our five loading bays – especially when many of them arrive for loading,” he continues.

Almost No Waiting Times for Drivers

There is no fixed date when the booking period for time slots begins. Humbaur also allows short-term bookings for its logistics service providers, as long as they are made by 3 PM the day before. This lead time gives the company the opportunity to plan the following day as accurately as possible and to allocate staff accordingly. A fee of 50 cents is charged for booking a time slot. This cost is borne by the freight forwarders, who benefit from quick and timely processing in return.

The fact that truck drivers will hardly have to wait in the future has already been demonstrated in the first weeks of using SLOT. “The waiting times for drivers have been drastically reduced,” Huber points out. In his view, the advantages of the system lie not only in the possibility of better temporal distribution of trucks but also in its graphical clarity. “This way, we can see exactly which truck arrives when and which vehicles are currently in the loading process,” he explains.

The software “Cargoclix SLOT” for optimizing processes is modularly structured and can be individually adapted to the needs of each company. Currently, the system has around 65,000 users in Germany and Europe.
