11. July 2021The European Cargo Alliance of International Freight Forwarders AG, short ELVIS, is starting the second half of the year with an expanded leadership team. The Supervisory Board has appointed Nikolja Grabowski (35) to the Board effective July 1. At the same time, Jochen Eschborn has been appointed Chairman of the Board. With this step, the alliance is initiating a gradual generational change in its top operational management that is planned to take several years.
(Alzenau) Nikolja Grabowski was previously a member of the management team and will be responsible for the strategic direction and communication of the alliance on the Board.
“Continuity and reliability are the cornerstones of ELVIS AG. Therefore, it was important for us to arrange for the succession of Jochen Eschborn, who has successfully led the alliance since its founding, at an early stage,” says Michael Wangler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Furthermore, the goal was to avoid an abrupt change at the top of the alliance. “Nikolja Grabowski has had an impressive career at ELVIS since 2017 and was most recently a member of the management team. He has thus known both the company and the affiliated partners very well for many years,” Wangler adds.
Continuous Career
The 35-year-old political scientist began his career at the alliance based in Alzenau in project management, where he made valuable contributions in connection with the damage claims against the truck cartel. Since 2018, he has successfully built and led the Political Communication department. In May 2020, Nikolja Grabowski was granted power of attorney. Since then, his area of responsibility has steadily grown.
From the beginning, the native of Hanau has been distinguished by his high reliability, extensive expertise, and unconditional willingness to engage in new areas. Jochen Eschborn, Chairman of the Board of ELVIS AG: “Apart from that, working with Nikolja Grabowski is also extremely pleasant on a personal level.” As a board member, the 35-year-old will now primarily take responsibility for partner support, communication, and network development.
Another Board Member Next Year
With the expansion of the Board, ELVIS aims for a smooth and gradual generational change. In this context, it is planned to appoint another board member at the beginning of next year to consolidate responsibility for the operational business. Jochen Eschborn, initiator and one of the founding fathers of the alliance, will continue to serve as chairman of the committee in the coming years and gradually hand over his responsibilities to his successors.
