11. July 2021The Andernach port has a new container crane bridge. The first parts of the crane were delivered and pre-assembled in the port back in January. The assembly work proceeded completely according to plan and smoothly, so that by mid-March the so-called main lift could take place – the steel framework of the container bridge was erected.
(Andernach) The Andernach port inaugurates a second container bridge. The acquisition addresses the growing container handling.
Until the digital inauguration ceremony on July 1, 2021, the completion, acceptance, and trial operation followed. The official first container lift will be accompanied on-site by Mayor Achim Hütten, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Stadtwerke Andernach GmbH, representatives of the municipal utilities, and David Moosbrugger, Managing Director of the manufacturing company Künz, who will enrich the opening ceremony with a technical lecture on the production of the crane.
Since container handling began operations in 2000, the amount of handled containers has been continuously increasing. The freight transport forecast until 2030 from the federal government also confirms the growth for freight transport on the Rhine.
Container terminal CSA positioned for greater performance
“We are pleased with the positive development at the Rhine port, which reinforces our investment decision,” report the two managing directors Jan Deuster and Lars Hörnig. With a contract volume of around €6,900,000, the municipal utilities are investing in the future of the Rhine port. This substantial sum is funded by federal resources at around 50%. The contractor is Künz GmbH from Hard/Austria, which was selected through a Europe-wide tender.
With the new container crane bridge, the municipal utilities are expanding the port’s performance and positioning the container terminal “CSA Andernach” even more broadly.
