11. July 2021In 1996, the packaging company Streiff & Helmold in Braunschweig at Carl-Giesecke-Straße had the opportunity to take over the new building of Commodore. From then on, ‘Streiff Logistics’ handled the packaging for ‘Miro’. This marked the beginning of the development of the logistics division of Streiff & Helmold.
(Braunschweig) In the fields of logistics and fulfillment, only those who proactively engage with development, change, and transformation are successful. Streiff & Helmold has evidently succeeded well in this, as on July 1, 2021, the logistics department can look back on its 25th anniversary. This anniversary is a testament to the aforementioned adaptability.
The Success Story of Logistics from Braunschweig
The success story itself began with a significant change in the home computer market and the resulting bankruptcy of the pioneer Commodore, when the owner-managed family business Streiff & Helmold took over the former Commodore European warehouse in Braunschweig in 1996. From then on, the company had 12,000 m² available for storage and packaging services, which were primarily provided for manufacturers in the multimedia electronics sector. The business with service and other services was successful and led to an expansion of capacity by an additional 7,000 m² in 1999.
Fulfillment and Contract Logistics
Further changes in the market eventually led to a broader approach to the business surrounding storage, packing, and shipping, as well as the development of software-supported fulfillment, which was still in its infancy. As a result, Streiff & Helmold was able to win many clients from the fields of contract logistics, action logistics, and warehousing. Once again, individual software adaptations and tailored logistics solutions were the key to success. Customers continue to appreciate this agility to this day. The expansion of the service portfolio was consistently pursued. Streiff & Helmold was qualified as a regulated agent and recognized early on the importance of being able to handle and store certified organic products.

Logistics Locations in Berlin and Harbke (Helmstedt) on the A2
In 2018, the company expanded in the field of contract logistics and established a modern warehouse of nearly 10,000 m² near Berlin-Schönefeld Airport. A preliminary highlight in the 25-year history of the logistics department was the takeover (2020) of the former Smyth Toys (formerly Toys “R” Us) central warehouse in Harbke near Helmstedt. The new logistics center is strategically located on the important east-west axis A2, providing excellent opportunities for logistics services in the metropolitan region of Hannover Braunschweig Göttingen Wolfsburg. In addition to 18,000 m² of hall space, the logistics center has 750 m² of administrative space for sustainable logistics services and the full range of contract logistics. The entire property covers 68,000 m². 62 loading gates ensure maximum comfort and advantages in processing for smooth goods handling in the supply chain.
Logistics is indeed agility. The most recent example of the adaptability of logistics is represented by over a million COVID tests currently being packaged in Braunschweig, while the Christmas business is simultaneously ‘rolling’.
The core of employees has now grown from 22 to 100.
