Jul 13, 2021 at 5:54 PMThe logistics service provider LOXXESS is investing at the Haiming location. An expansion of the storage areas and innovations in the field of intralogistics are planned. With this expansion, LOXXESS supports the growth of its customer WACKER in Burghausen. The investment volume amounts to a total of 25 to 30 million euros. The new areas are expected to be operational from January 2022.
(Tegernsee/Haiming) As a logistics service provider, LOXXESS has been supporting the chemical company Wacker Chemie AG in the storage and loading of finished products in Burghausen for 13 years. WACKER is growing at the site and requires additional storage space. To meet the needs of its customer, LOXXESS is now planning an expansion in neighboring Haiming. The innovations will be implemented as part of a contract extension between LOXXESS and WACKER.
So far, the logistics hall covers an area of 40,000 sqm and nearly 38,000 pallet spaces, which serve the supply of raw materials and the storage of products from WACKER. The product range extends to several thousand items, for whose distribution LOXXESS is responsible. In the future, WACKER will entrust further parts of logistics to the logistics service provider. As an additional service, LOXXESS will also take over the storage and production-compliant delivery of special packaging materials for WACKER.
Expansion of the area by 16,300 m2
An expansion of the area by 16,300 sqm is planned, while simultaneously doubling the pallet spaces to nearly 80,000 units. The extension will be taller than the existing logistics hall, and the shelves will be installed in a narrow aisle system. This will allow for significantly more efficient use of the existing space. “The spatial dimensions of the shelving system will be optimally adapted to WACKER’s products. This way, we take into account the individual requirements of the customer,” says Florian Schwarz-Gewallig, Managing Director of the LOXXESS location in Haiming.
LOXXESS is also investing in the field of intralogistics and plans to use new electrically operated industrial trucks with lithium-ion technology in the future.
Close Coordination with the Customer
Dr. Claus-Peter Amberger, Board Member of Loxxess AG, emphasizes the importance of the long-standing and productive collaboration with Wacker Chemie AG in the context of the project: “We offer a wide range of highly specialized logistics services. For these to be implemented efficiently, we rely on close coordination with the customer. The collaboration with WACKER is exemplary in this regard.”
“WACKER continues to grow rapidly and needs partners who can accompany this growth while working with the latest technology in a highly efficient and cost-effective manner. LOXXESS is one of those partners from whose expertise we benefit,” emphasizes Dr. Thorsten Heyen, Head of Purchasing & Logistics at WACKER.
Thanks to the expansion of the collaboration, LOXXESS will create up to 100 new jobs at the Haiming location, depending on the level of expansion. At the same time, existing jobs in the region will be secured.
