16. July 2021The expansion of the FIEGE Mega Center in Ibbenbüren has been completed after about a year of construction. Since early July, the family-owned company from Greven in Westphalia has had an additional 30,000 square meters of logistics space available for existing and new customers at the multi-user location in northern Münsterland. In total, the FIEGE location in Ibbenbüren now offers around 155,000 square meters of logistics space.
(Ibbenbüren/Greven) FIEGE operates in Ibbenbüren for various customers, primarily from the fashion, consumer goods, industry, and healthcare sectors – enabling its customers to closely link brick-and-mortar retail with online commerce through customized logistics solutions. The construction project was implemented by Klebl as the general contractor in collaboration with FIEGE Real Estate.
Even more flexible and tailored to customer needs
Detlev Hornhues, branch manager of the FIEGE Mega Center in Ibbenbüren, emphasizes the great importance of the site expansion: “The three additional hall sections are a milestone for our location. With the newly created logistics space, we at FIEGE can not only meet our own growth aspirations but, above all, those of our customers. We can respond even more flexibly and individually to the wishes of our long-standing partners and our new customers. And we recognize that our offering comes at just the right time, as the new hall sections are already rented out.”
Continuous development since 1992
The Ibbenbüren location is ideally suited to serve strong economic regions – from Bremen and Hanover in the north to the Ruhr area in the south. Jan Fiege, Managing Director of Fiege Real Estate, states: “The multi-user center in Ibbenbüren was put into operation in 1992 and has been continuously developed since then, which is why the location still meets modern standards for logistics properties. Over the years, the facility has been efficiently utilized with changing customers and is now primarily an e-commerce location.” Especially for online retailers, highly professional logistical processing is becoming increasingly important, Jan Fiege further explains, and the demand for logistics spaces that can accommodate this remains high. “Therefore, we are pleased that we can offer these attractive spaces through the expansion. Ibbenbüren is a very important location for our omnichannel fulfillment concepts.”
