BNP Paribas Analysis Reports Boom in Logistics Space
16. July 2021Austrian Post Reports Positive First Half of 2021
19. July 2021(Greven/Karlsruhe) After many months with limited personal contact with customers and partners, LIS is returning to the trade fair scene. From September 30 to October 3, the Westphalian software developer will present two innovations at the commercial vehicle trade fair in Karlsruhe: the integrated automatic route planning and the new cloud service Software-as-a-Service.
While the new module creates optimized combinations of orders, vehicles, and routes, the new cloud application WinSped can be flexibly subscribed to and operated via the internet. The innovations address two current trend topics – sustainability and remote work.
“Finally, personal exchange can take place again. After a long break, we are very pleased to present our two trade fair highlights to the visitors of NUFAM,” says Magnus Wagner, CEO of LIS Logistische Informationssysteme AG.
Integrated Automatic Route Planning Presented
One of these is the integrated automatic route planning developed in collaboration with flexis AG and PTV Group, Karlsruhe, which LIS has had in its portfolio as the first standard TMS provider since the beginning of the year. This function allows a large number of shipments to be distributed to available vehicles at the push of a button, significantly speeding up route planning. Using mathematical algorithms, an optimized combination of orders, vehicles, and routes is calculated while considering resources and established conditions. A standardized dispatch in this way simplifies work and increases the efficiency of the transport vehicles used. Wagner: “As the utilization of routes and resources increases, the total kilometers decrease, thereby reducing logistics and transport costs. Our new tool has immediate positive effects not only on the economic efficiency but also on the sustainability of the user.”
For the technical implementation, LIS has entered into partnerships with flexis AG and PTV Group, Karlsruhe. Through online interfaces to WinSped, the systems of both companies provide LIS customers with pre-planned routes.
New Cloud Service
The second trade fair highlight is the new cloud service Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). With this, the WinSped software package can be easily rented in a subscription model. Access is via the cloud, where the TMS is fully installed. This way, not only are the acquisition costs eliminated, but customers also enjoy high data security, better scalability, and thus financial flexibility. Operating the software requires nothing more than an internet connection. Forwarders and shippers can therefore work remotely – a feature that is becoming increasingly important for many companies. “In particular, the past months in home office have shown how relevant modern IT structures are. By providing access to WinSped via a simple internet connection, we help logistics companies to operate flexibly and independently,” says Wagner. “The first 100 customers are already benefiting from the advantages of the LIS Cloud. This makes them more resilient to external influences such as a pandemic.”
