29. July 2021Unexpectedly, the former DSLV Managing Director, Dr. Gregor Schild, passed away on July 17, 2021, at the age of 68. His family has now announced this. Born in Dinslaken, Gregor Schild dedicated his entire professional life to strengthening the political interests of the logistics industry.
(Berlin) The former DSLV Managing Director Dr. Gregor Schild unexpectedly passed away at the age of 68. After studying economics in Bonn, he took a position as an assistant at the Chair of Transport Sciences at the University of Cologne, followed by a doctorate.
In 1984, Dr. Schild joined the then Working Group of Road Hauliers (adekra) eG as an advisor, which later merged into the VKS Association of German Road Hauliers eG, of which he became a deputy board member in 1986. In 1989, he was appointed managing board member by the general assembly of the VKS.
Significantly involved in merger steps
Dr. Schild was significantly involved in further merger steps in the then still widely branched association landscape. In April 2003, as a result of the merger of the VKS with the then Federal Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics (BSL) to form the DSLV German Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association (now: DSLV Federal Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics), he was appointed its Managing Director. In a dual leadership with the former BSL Managing Director Heiner Rogge, he led the federal association until he voluntarily stepped down from office on December 31, 2012.
Friend of logistics
“With Dr. Gregor Schild, a recognized expert and great friend of logistics has passed away, whose commitment was particularly directed towards owner-managed German forwarding companies. Sustainable entrepreneurial action always impressed him, and this was also reflected in his leadership of the DSLV,” describes DSLV Honorary President Dr. Michael Kubenz the long-standing work of the late Dr. Schild. “On behalf of the industry, the presidency and management express their condolences to his family.”
