Daimler Trucks Launches New FUSO Canter in Europe
5. August 2021Schenker Ventures Supports Startups in Logistics
5. August 2021The AKL offers more than 70,000 spaces, making it the largest automated storage system of the NORD DRIVESYSTEMS group. With the expanded logistics capacities, delivery and assembly times will be further reduced. In the warehouse developed by KNAPP AG, 900 inbound and outbound operations can be performed per hour.
(Bargteheide) The dimensions are impressive: The automated small parts warehouse spans two halls, 6,600 square meters, and 44 levels. In the intelligent warehouse developed by the Austrian KNAPP AG, 44 shuttles can perform up to 900 inbound and outbound operations per hour. They move product carriers weighing 50 kg and measuring up to 60×40 cm.
Managing Director Ullrich Küchenmeister thanked all those involved at the inauguration for their great commitment, which made the timely completion of the AKL possible: “Even the Corona pandemic and a small flood could not change that.” Employees from various NORD departments were involved in the planning of the small parts warehouse – from logistics to IT to building management.
Delivering Customers and Subsidiaries Even Faster
The inauguration ceremony took place in a small circle due to the pandemic. Other NORD managing directors Jutta Humbert, Dr. Omar Sadi, Jens Paulsen, and Gernot Zarp also attended. The first storage operation was conducted by Carolin von Rönne: She is part of the 3rd generation of the NORD founding family and has been with the company since autumn 2020.
In addition to the AKL, the new halls also house a narrow aisle warehouse with 4,400 pallet spaces, as well as a goods receiving and shipping area. The parts packaging is also now located here.
With the new small parts warehouse, NORD can deliver its customers and subsidiaries even faster in the future. The higher availability of many components also reduces assembly times at the Bargteheide location.
