10. August 2021L.I.T. AG has acquired the logistics company WESTFALIA intralog GmbH. The former subsidiary of SULO Deutschland GmbH has been part of L.I.T. Speditions GmbH since August 1, 2021. With the acquisition by the Lower Saxony logistics service provider, the two transport companies aim to pool their resources in the swap body business.
(Brake/Herford) WESTFALIA intralog will continue to operate under its own name and with its proven team as an independent business unit of the L.I.T. Group. The collaboration with the SULO Group will remain in place under a multi-year contract. “WESTFALIA intralog is perfectly positioned for swap body transports – just like us – and ideally complements our portfolio,” says Simeon Breuer, Managing Director of L.I.T. Speditions GmbH and board member of L.I.T. AG. Dirk Schröder, Managing Director of WESTFALIA intralog GmbH, also sees a perfect match between the two companies: “By leveraging synergy effects, we, together with L.I.T., have significant strength in the area of swap body logistics.”
New Development Opportunities
The decision to separate from the SULO Group was seen as strategically sound by both parties, according to Schröder. The spin-off from the waste disposal company opens up new development opportunities for the logistics company and allows a refocusing on its core competency, logistics. “WESTFALIA intralog has reached a point where the resources of a pioneering logistics company like L.I.T. promise to provide us with new impulses,” says Schröder. The approximately 1,000 swap bodies of the transport company will complement the already double-sized inventory of the L.I.T. Group. The collaboration with SULO Deutschland, which has lasted for 38 years, will continue seamlessly under a multi-year contract.
