DHL and Kaufland Jointly Reduce CO2 Emissions
26. August 2021LIP Market Report Q2/21 “Logistics Real Estate Germany”
26. August 2021The logistics service provider CargoBeamer is adding a new transport connection to its program. Starting from October 4th, four round trips per week will be offered between Calais in France and Domodossola in Italy. From December, the frequency will increase to six trips per week in both directions, ensuring that at least one train operates daily on this route.
(Leipzig) As with all routes of CargoBeamer, both craneable and non-craneable semi-trailers as well as containers, hazardous goods, P400, refrigerated, and silo trailers can be transported in an environmentally friendly manner by rail. This is the third new route that the company has added to its own network since the beginning of the year.
Second Connection for Terminal in Calais
In Calais, CargoBeamer opened its first terminal in June, which is fully equipped with the company’s own CargoBeamer technology. Here, semi-trailers are loaded horizontally and in parallel, allowing an entire intermodal train to be handled fully automatically and within 20 minutes. In addition to the domestic French route added in July between Calais and Perpignan, the connection to Domodossola now marks the first international route included in the location’s portfolio.
Domodossola Was Part of the Plans from the Beginning
Matthias Schadler, Managing Director of CargoBeamer intermodal operations GmbH, explains: “We at CargoBeamer are very pleased to offer our customers another connection between two highly attractive logistics locations starting in October. Around the recently opened terminal in Calais, we are continuously expanding our range of routes, and the inclusion of a route to Domodossola has played a key role in our planning from the very beginning. At the same time, we will significantly expand our entire route and terminal network in the coming years to transport goods in an environmentally friendly manner across Europe with CargoBeamer trains soon.”
