Sep 10, 2021 at 6:38 PMHapag-Lloyd now offers its customers worldwide the use of electronic bills of lading. In collaboration with WAVE BL, a digital platform for supply chain partners, customers can utilize not only the bill of lading but also other important trade documents paperlessly.
(Hamburg) By using the WAVE BL network, the printing, signing, and releasing of paper-based documents is eliminated. The platform optimizes freight traffic in a blockchain-supported digital infrastructure and replaces manual workflows with a secure, automated solution, allowing shipping companies to issue, manage, transmit, and sign documents within minutes.
“We are reaching the next milestone on our journey to becoming a leading digital carrier by offering our customers a much-needed electronic solution for the release of bills of lading. The new solution will enable the secure and rapid electronic release of these documents. Through our partnership with Wave BL, we are further expanding our range of digital solutions, fulfilling our promise to provide added value to our customers, enhance the customer experience, and be number one for quality,” says Juan Carlos Duk, Managing Director Global Commercial Development at Hapag-Lloyd.
Further Step Towards Paperlessness
With the new solution, Hapag-Lloyd takes another step towards paperless collaboration with its customers. The exchange of physical documents on paper is associated with high costs and carries the risk of forgery and loss in an industry where goods worth over 19 trillion USD are traded annually.
