(Dresden/Leipzig/Schkeuditz) Sachsenland Transport & Logistik GmbH Dresden was able to maintain its revenue from the previous year in the last financial year. The reason for this positive development despite the crisis triggered by the pandemic is the continuous development of the product portfolio to fully meet customer needs. The company is experiencing growth, especially in the e-commerce sector. In this context, the demand for air freight is also significantly increasing. Therefore, Sachsenland has decided to expand its product portfolio with this logistics segment and opened a new location in Schkeuditz, directly at Leipzig/Halle Airport, on August 1, 2021.The head of the new branch is Gaafar Eschmann. The trained freight forwarder brings over ten years of experience in the logistics sector and has worked for renowned logistics companies such as Gebrüder Weiss, Kühne + Nagel, and Rhenus. He has gained versatile experience, especially in air and sea freight, which prepares him well for the tasks of the new branch. For Eschmann, the new position is also the fulfillment of a long-held goal, as he has been working towards independently managing and developing his own branch since the beginning of his career.
Future Strengthening of the Sea Freight Sector
Due to the strong freight focus, facilitated by the night flight permit and good national and international networking, the airport is ideally suited for the new branch. Many international logistics partners are already active on-site, and the location is steadily growing. The new location is optimally integrated with the airport and the surrounding infrastructure. The customs office and the World Cargo Center of the airport are in close proximity, and the Schkeuditz motorway interchange can be reached in just a few minutes. Thus, the new office also offers potential for future service expansions. In the future, the storage of air freight and additional fulfillment services are also to be possible here.
Continuously Expanded Portfolio
“The expansion of offerings for our customers is a consistent step for our corporate development. Formerly focused only on Eastern Europe, the company has continuously oriented itself to customer needs in recent years and has accordingly expanded its portfolio,” explains Marko Weiselowski, Managing Partner of Sachsenland. “Together with air freight, the sea freight sector is also to be strengthened, where we are also seeing increases. With the new location, we can establish a strong presence on-site and create a solid foundation for current and future customers.”
Promising Conditions
Gaafar Eschmann, branch manager in Schkeuditz, emphasizes the importance of the new branch: “Due to the ideal location directly at the airport, we are now able to offer our customers not only truck transport but also air and sea freight in conjunction with the necessary customs expertise. Thus, our customers only need one logistics service provider.” Eschmann adds: “For me, this project is an important concern, as I can fulfill a long-held wish under extremely promising conditions and with a good team. I have been intensively involved with the air and sea freight market for many years and can now implement the knowledge gained on-site.”Photo: © Sachsenland / Caption: Marko Weiselowski (standing), Managing Partner of Sachsenland, welcomes Gaafar Eschmann, the head of the new branch at Leipzig/Halle Airport
