This extensive order expands the existing fleet of about 650 trucks, all exclusively from Mercedes-Benz.
(Stuttgart/Pretoria/Durban) For over four decades, Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Bakers SA Limited have shared a trusting partnership. This began in the early 1970s when the family-owned company Bakers SA acquired its first truck from Mercedes-Benz. Since then, the company has become one of the leading independent logistics companies in the country – with Mercedes-Benz trucks being an essential part of its success. Bakers offers a wide range of logistics services from transportation, handling, and storage to last-mile delivery. The main items transported include packaging, everyday goods, and household items throughout South Africa and into neighboring countries.
Another 43 Light Trucks of the FUSO Canter Type to City
The Daimler Truck brand FUSO can also celebrate a successful fleet order in South Africa. The company City Logistics operates throughout the country and beyond its borders into Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, and Swaziland. With a customer base primarily consisting of large retailers and distribution companies, City Logistics offers a range of services in the areas of distribution transport, long-distance transport, and warehouse logistics. In July 2021, Daimler Trucks and Buses Southern Africa underscored its long-standing partnership with City Logistics by handing over 43 light trucks of the FUSO Canter type. This doubles the number of FUSO trucks for City Logistics, expanding the total fleet to about 1200 vehicles.
