CargoBeamer and Eurotunnel Begin Cooperation
20. September 2021Only ten days until NUFAM 2021. Then the commercial vehicle show will finally bring the industry together again and present current trends and developments in the field of goods mobility. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience commercial vehicles live again and attend expert lectures and guided tours from September 30 to October 3 at the Karlsruhe exhibition center.
(Karlsruhe) This year, NUFAM features 350 exhibitors from 13 European countries showcasing the entire range of services in the industry on an area of over 70,000 square meters. The significance of NUFAM is underscored by the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure as well as the Ministry of Transport in Baden-Württemberg.
NUFAM is the first major industry meeting since the pandemic began. To ensure a safe visit to the fair, Messe Karlsruhe is in constant contact with the authorities and has developed a comprehensive protection and hygiene concept that even exceeds the state’s requirements.
Guided Tours Make the Mobility of Tomorrow Tangible
The topics of alternative drives and digitalization are not only present at the exhibition stands, but also reflected in the extensive supporting program of NUFAM.
The New Mobility guided tours, introduced in 2019, give visitors the opportunity to participate in guided tours specifically highlighting the innovations in the field of “New Mobility.” Exhibitors will showcase their innovations in alternative drives, digital assistance systems, and vehicle and product premieres. Among them are König Metall, presenting a fully electric small municipal commercial vehicle, and Carrier Transicold Germany with its autonomous, fully electronic cooling system for trailers. Interested visitors can book tickets for the New Mobility guided tours in advance at the online ticket shop. The tours will take place on October 1.
The industry is also firmly established in the technology region of Karlsruhe and is a workplace for many citizens. To drive forward the automotive future with new technologies and the transformation of the country, participants of the business breakfast will discuss necessary measures and funding opportunities from a political perspective. The event is organized by aen – automotive engineering network.
As part of the “Municipal Meeting Point,” two guided tours will take place across the exhibition grounds. Exhibitors will showcase vehicles, superstructures, and attachments for municipal needs in action, accompanied by municipal experts. The product presentations will cover telematics solutions, three-way tippers, and lifting aids for back-friendly repairs on compressed air brakes.
Research Projects and Expert Lectures on Alternative Drives
Three research institutions will present the latest developments and trends in renewable energies and digitalization at NUFAM. The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is working on the production and application of renewable fuels and will provide detailed insights into the research project “reFuels” at this year’s NUFAM. The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, in collaboration with TBV Kühlfahrzeuge GmbH, is addressing the important issue of reducing CO2 emissions and is focusing on solar power. DHBW Ravensburg is tackling the challenge of digitalization in transport and will present its research on modern connectivity solutions at NUFAM. Gerhard Grünig from Springer-Verlag will present solution perspectives for a CO2-free use of commercial vehicles in his expert lecture “The Path to CO2-Free Commercial Vehicles.” He will discuss limits that must be adhered to in the coming years due to EU regulations and present current technologies for trucks and vans. The topics of diesel use and the promotion of alternative fuels will also be addressed.
Exciting Panel Discussions on Current Commercial Vehicle Topics
On two telematics days (September 30 and October 1) with its own telematics forum, industry visitors can inform themselves about current topics of digitalization in the transport and logistics sector. In lectures and discussion rounds, questions regarding vehicle telematics will be debated. The Load Securing Forum (October 1 and 2) will be held in collaboration with the professional partner “Königsberger Load Securing Circle.” In dynamic practical demonstrations, the importance of proper load securing will be illustrated. Particularly interesting for industry visitors at NUFAM this year are the discussions of the Truck Driver Forum. Here, the everyday life of professional drivers will be the focus of the panel discussions. Among other things, the forum will address how to prevent serious truck accidents at the end of traffic jams.
From theory to practice, the NUFAM Challenge in collaboration with Drive Concept Wiesner and ETM Verlag seeks the best professional driver in Germany. The theoretical knowledge of the participants was tested in advance of the fair with an online questionnaire. The finalists must prove their practical experience on October 3 in the demo park.
Even More Action in the Demo Park and Numerous Audience Activities
The full range of commercial vehicles is also showcased in the vehicle presentations of the exhibitors in the demo park. Renowned manufacturers present their latest vehicles in action. Another crowd-puller is the formation of a rescue chain, demonstrating how various partners work hand in hand in the event of a truck accident. As a special highlight, Alex Gräff, one of Germany’s most famous professional drifters, will showcase his skills in the demo park, creating creative donuts on the asphalt with his racing car. Kevin Funk and his host will present extraordinary driving maneuvers in their motorcycle trial stunt show – spectacular jumps and riding without a front wheel included.
Visitors can also sit behind the wheel of a truck – even without a truck driver’s license – at the Ortenauer Truck Drivers’ Association e.V. On October 2 and 3, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, skill driving competitions will take place in the outdoor area after registration (Hall 1, Stand A 125) – the best driver will be awarded daily. Visitors aged 12 and older have the opportunity to ride in a Unimog on all four fair days. For the youngest visitors, there is also the Unimog course “Next-Generation” with mini-mogs, bobby cars, and much more.
