21. September 2021After the pandemic-related pause last year, truck drivers will once again be in the spotlight on Thursday, September 23, 2021. It is only thanks to their often challenging work that goods can be delivered to and picked up from Hamburg day after day. Many companies and associations from the logistics industry want to show their appreciation for this.
(Hamburg) As part of the action “Hamburg says Thank You”, which will take place for the fifth time, a total of 5,000 Franzbrötchen and signs reading “Logistics Hero” and “Logistics Heroine” will be distributed next Thursday starting early in the morning.
“The many truck drivers who are on our roads every day ensure the supply of our society. They transport not only the goods for our daily needs but also sensitive items, such as Corona vaccines. The societal relevance of this profession has become even more evident in recent months. Many drivers are also active in the areas affected by the flood disaster, organizing aid deliveries to the people on-site. It is high time to say ‘Thank You’ again and to set a sign of appreciation,” says Prof. Dr. Peer Witten, Chairman of the Logistics Initiative Hamburg.
Franzbrötchen and Thank You Card
Therefore, next Thursday, diligent helpers will distribute Franzbrötchen as a small thank you for their tireless efforts to professional drivers at Halskestraße, at the Eurogate container terminal, in Rade, and other locations. Many companies also provide for their drivers directly at their locations. The drivers will also receive a thank you card along with a request to take a selfie with it and upload it on Facebook or Instagram under the hashtag #LogisticsHero or #LogisticsHeroine. The goal of the action is to give a face to the “logistics heroes” and to honor their work. Furthermore, this initiative aims to promote recruitment, which has been significantly lacking among professional drivers despite high demand for years. The action also seeks to raise awareness of the important work of drivers in the general public and to encourage more consideration among all road users.
Diverse supporters of the action
The action is supported by the Logistics Initiative Hamburg (LIHH), the Association of Road Freight Transport and Logistics Hamburg (VSH), the SVG-Hamburg Road Transport Cooperative eG, the Association of Hamburg Forwarders (VHSp), and well over 50 companies in the industry.
