LIS Wins Logistics Provider Bring as First Customer in Scandinavia
5. October 2021Portakabin, the market leader in the production of modular buildings, is investing in a state-of-the-art track-and-trace solution from Zetes to monitor its modular products throughout their entire lifecycle. During the manufacturing process, the modules are marked with a unique identifier in the form of a QR code, which is scanned at every stage of the lifecycle.
(Wien/London) Portakabin is the UK market leader in modular construction and operates in the UK, Ireland, and Europe. The building modules are manufactured in a state-of-the-art production facility in York and are then assembled on site. The final configuration is done precisely according to customer specifications.
With the introduction of ZetesMedea, Portakabin now has an automated solution that can track the movements of the modules throughout their journey from manufacturing to installation and ultimately to potential repair. Furthermore, the company can easily demonstrate compliance with applicable building regulations and report live on the status of the modules.
During the manufacturing process, the modules are marked with a unique identifier in the form of a QR code, which is scanned at every stage of the lifecycle. This way, information is collected at each stage, which is then transferred into Portakabin’s SAP system. This not only enables seamless tracking of a module’s location but also provides comprehensive data for further processing of the module throughout its entire lifecycle.
Increasing Economic Efficiency
Ian Donal, Head of Supply Chain at Portakabin, explains: “We chose Zetes because the company has already carried out similar projects where economic efficiency has been demonstrably improved. In the past, we did not always have the opportunity to obtain the necessary information, and when we did, it was associated with high personnel and time expenditure. With Zetes, we can view the entire lifecycle of our buildings. This allows us to continue driving our business growth despite the challenging market situation.”
Amir Harel, UK Managing Director at Zetes, adds: “We are pleased to offer a solution to such a renowned British brand manufacturer as Portakabin, which enables the company to increase its economic efficiency and gain more accurate insights into its processes. We look forward to further collaboration with Portakabin to achieve additional optimizations together.”
