The Holm Start-up Days Take Place as a Hybrid Event
7. October 2021After a year of planning and a ten-month construction phase, the new sustainable logistics center of HEINLOTH – the logistic experts will commence operations in Rostock in January 2022. With this project, the Rother logistics specialist expands its activities in Scandinavian traffic to include contract logistics.
(Roth near Nuremberg/Rostock) The logistics specialist HEINLOTH – the logistic experts is expanding its Scandinavian business and is opening a branch in Rostock. “We have traditionally been strong in Northern Europe. With this modern logistics facility, we can further enhance our collaboration with our customers while simultaneously creating a foundation for new clients,” says Frederik Pleick, responsible for contract logistics at HEINLOTH. The logistics center includes 3,000 pallet spaces, 3,500 square meters of open storage close to the port, as well as office and social spaces in the first construction phase. Additionally, the company is creating new jobs and training positions in the fields of warehouse specialists, freight forwarding agents, and office clerks.
Rostock location enables diverse services
The geographical location of the new building allows the company to respond flexibly to the needs of customers in Northern Germany and Scandinavia from close proximity. On the other hand, HEINLOTH is expanding its service offerings in the Scandinavian market through the logistics center: In addition to transport services, storage, order picking, packaging, and other value-added services will be carried out at the Rostock location in the future. “When choosing the location and the scope, our top priority was to further optimize processes with our customers. The alignment of our corporate processes is focused on the efficiency of all operations. The Rostock location contributes to this endeavor,” says Pleick.
Proximity to Rostock Port and Scandinavian ferries
The proximity to the Rostock port also facilitates transport to and from Scandinavia. In the search for the property and discussions with local authorities, HEINLOTH was able to rely on the active support of “Rostock Business,” the economic and technology promotion of the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock. Oliver Schwemmer, CEO of Heinloth Transport GmbH, adds: “It was important for us to find a partner with local expertise, particularly with knowledge of the area, the necessary know-how for such a project, and the corresponding network in the background.” Through the collaboration with “Rostock Business,” the establishment will become a successful project, according to Schwemmer.
Focus on a comprehensive service portfolio
The newly acquired storage capacities and additional offerings are crucial components of the comprehensive service portfolio that HEINLOTH aims to provide to its customers. “As a fulfillment service provider, we work in our core areas of transport and logistics, offering our customers complete solutions that go beyond classic transport, simple storage, and pure order picking activities,” says Roland Heinloth, CEO of the company and responsible for strategic logistics and real estate planning.
High environmental standards and economic efficiency
The new logistics location in Rostock adheres to the same high-quality standards and customer-specific processes that HEINLOTH’s clients are already accustomed to from the locations in Roth near Nuremberg and Eching near Munich. The sustainable construction methods, such as exemplary insulation, heat pump technology, underfloor heating, and the use of a photovoltaic system, meet the company’s standards. “High environmental standards and high economic efficiency are not mutually exclusive – they complement each other at HEINLOTH,” says Roland Heinloth.
